... as per this update from BoLS:

Virtually every type of model base made by Games Workshop is now available in the GW Online Store. Click the link in the previous sentence to see the full range of bases. Note that the bases previously available are now considerably more expensive, such as 40mm round bases which were 25 for $5.00 and are now 5 for $4.50. The positive change, however, is that bases that have been previously unavailable for purchase on their own are now readily available, such as 60mm beveled bases, the new Space Marine Scout Bike bases, Eldar 60mm

while the considerably more expensive is annoying, at least this means that desired bases will be available in some form or another. 60mm flat bases are a staple of my armies, and I like the 40mm bases as well.

does the update include the 25mm round flats I wonder? Yes it does! wonderful! [Edit: at $6 for 9 bases, I am not sure that I care. Thanks for driving more sales to Litko GW!]

what uses the large oval base? I am not sure that I have seen that one before.

It's a LotR Dragon base.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

how big is the oval base like compared to the big round ones? if it's a lot bigger I might be able to use that for my trygon...

Wow!

Prices that will absolutely NOT make you want to buy them.

I hope no one does, so prices can descend from on high, down to more realistic levels.

The prices are a little out there. Its nice to see slotless round 25mm bases included. They weren't a part of the last iteration of bases (the mixed bag approach).

Which 60 mm bases are the ones that are raised. I call them raised, but apparently GW doesn't. I also hate the flat 60mm ones. PM me if interested, I have a few.

The Large Oval LOTR Dragon base is perfect for the Trygon. Before I sold my Trygon I tested it out on one of those oval bases and it was the perfect size. They also work great for things like the FW Great Unclean One and Giant Spawns.
It is a good base for large (especially FW) stuff.

Sorry. Just had to get it in before someone else did. The prices are nuts. On the bright side, the new bike base is available. On the downside the same type of base in resin with details already moulded into them are available elsewhere for a similar price!!!

What I do hope though is that within 6 months or so the bike base will be included in all bike packs, not just the Scout Bike.

Except bases aren't a luxury item. They're cheap plastic circles with texture on one side.

What's the difference between the 60 mm closed, 60 mm Eldar, and 60 mm Titan bases? It says something about "Eldar scenic detailing" but the pic looks the same.

The raised 60mm go for a lot more than 4.50 for 3 on ebay nowadays so I for one am not disappointed. Could care less about the rest except for the biker bases which I will probably a ton of for my marines and ork bikers

And I second. Anyone know which the raised 60mm is? Though i'd guess it's the closed base as I know the titan base is flat and the eldar one is suppose to have different stuff.

I have a saw, a file and can buy plasticard. Cat litter and static grass for texture, plus the odd broken miniature for flavor. What this is, is a way for people who have more money than time to get what they want. Now, I know that there are plenty of people out there who have enough money that paying these prices is no big deal, but I'm not one of them.

Yeah, I made all my own bases for my recent Destroyers. $3.50 for a sheet of 2mm Plasticard made me a dozen odd bases the same size as the large flying bases.

The prices are nuts, but there are substitutes, both profesionally and home grown. The prices will come down and be more acceptable, or they won't and substitutes will be utilized.

In layman's terms, what's the difference between the "Eldar 60mm Bases", the "60mm Round Closed Bases" and the "60mm Titan Bases"?

Now I'm aware there are 2 types of 60mm base, one raised like all their normal bases, and one is much flatter. The raised on appear to be in the "Round Bases Set" but the others all look the same to me.

Eldar bases are topped with cracked stone and fancy Eldar symbols, regular 60mm bases are just that and the 60mm titan bases are the old flat 600 bases without the raised edges.

I see, I think. I'm not familiar with the Eldar ones. I'm suprised any would be valuable as Hulksmash indicates.

Still, the price will have to come down, I'm used to having a sack full of bases for £5 not half a dozen. They do a nice range of bases, but what's the point whn they're so overpriced? There's plenty of other people doing the small square and round bases, and I'm sure there are people doing the 40mm bases too, which I find quite useful.

I heard that GW is going to use a new bi component plastic on all bases starting now. If the base of the mini is not GW the mini will explode!

And when you aim the GW laser pointer at a non-GW mini, that mini explodes, too!

I don't care how much the bases cost. If I want them, I'll buy them. I'll be damned if I'm going to sit there and count how many bases come in the bag for my $4.50 or whatever. It's a negligible amount of money.

Tin Dictator or EM-4 can get you 25mm rounds much, much cheaper. Likewise Litko, GF9's by the pint, etc.

Or you could just use steel washers.

Gw snuck in when you weren't looking, gasped at your collection of unused goods, took them and then raised the prizes, because they could. [/GW conspiracy mode]

I sent gw an email asking about the different 60mm bases that were listed. I was looking for the newer kind that come with the imperial guard heavy weapons or the carnifexes, not the thin flat ones... here's what he said, fyi...

Hello,
The bases you are looking for are the 60mm round closed base. The pack contains 3 bases.

Thanks!

3 big bases for $4.50 doesn't sound so bad, they were $2 each before right? I'm assuming the same goes for chariot bases? maybe even the large oval ones too?

I can create several appropriately shaped card bases, design and build a functional real life rhino from steel, demolish it, and decorate the card bases with component parts of said destroyed rhino for the same cost as buying one pack of these bases.

Luckily I just bought a pack of 30 small flying bases for $5.00 before they went up to 5 for $6.00.
