Is is just me or does every guards man and his mother wear Cameleoline Cloaks.... for being a "rare" material I seem to see an awful lot of Conscripts and lasgunners decked out in it. I am glad to know the emperor has the cash to outfit slaves with state of the art camo but doesn't have the cash to buy them working weapons.

Gathering the Informations.

You have to remember that it isn't always representative of the actual material that the Tanith First use. It can also represent an Active Camo-style piece of technology, or something as simple as a Ghillie Suit.

It's kind of a catch all for folks who know how to be sneaky.

Yeah, you'll be seeing a lot of that until next spring.

Pretty soon Cameleoline armies will be tied to a special character, so don't worry about it too much.

Depends how good the special character is. My guess is Gaunt will be cameleoline guy. I hope Yarrick has good 'doctrines', he's always been my favorite IG special character.

If your seeing conscripts with them, have your opponent read his codex. Conscripts cant take it.

Cover is abundant in 5th. Everything gives everything else a 4+ cover save. A special character that gives your army a 3+ Cover Save is too good not to take. How good the actual character is is secondary to that.

I'd consider that part of his 'profile'. I'd say it also depends what else he's crashing out, how much these options cost and what you lose to get them.

Well if it's 'Squads with Cameleoline may not take Heavy Weapons', then ok, I could see a reason not to.

And I'm sure there'd be some ultra lame fluff justification for such a poor attempt at balance - 'Troops outfitted with Cameleoline need to travel light to set up ambushes, therefore never carry heavy weapons'. Never mind the fact that have heavy weapon crews that are nearly invisible to the naked eye would be a good thing.

IG really seem like the army the designers gave the least thought to when writing 5th. Much like orks were for 4th.

Yep, that'd stop me fielding him too.

Are you *sure* Conscripts can take Cameoline? Reguarl Guardsmen, including Heavy Weapons, sure. But Conscripts? No, I don't think so...
