So, I'm playing my daemon list
Epidemius
Great Unclean one
2 x 14 plaguebearers
2x 8 nurglings
2x 7 nurglings
3 daemon princes, 2 walking, one winged, Mark of Nurgle, Iron Hide, Gaze
So, my oppenant is playing a chaos marine list,
Abaddon
Typhus
2 5 man walking marine squads
2x 4 man terminator squads
2 land raiders
1 defiler
It's conquer and control, dawn of war.
I get first turn, and all my MC's hit the empty board. His objectives is in the far right corner, mine is to my left. Epidemius, and his plague bearer squad squats on the objective, while my MC's hit center of the table. They run towards the unfriendly objective. Abbadon and typhus's land raiders roar onto the board, and beeline for my objective along with the defiler. My Great unclean one and my winged prince move to support Epidemius, while the walking princes head toward the unfriendly objective.
next turn rolls around, and both my opponet's small squads hit the board. He doesn't like his chances vs two daemon princes with gaze, and move them to support the push on my objective.
He decides not to risk getting out of the land raider to assault and keeps the beatsticks A and T in their raiders.
That's when all my nurlgings came in. all four squads came in, and over the next few turns, ended up tarpitting all that nasty, nasty beat stick. I did three wounds to abbadon, and that's it. When the smoke cleared at the end of round five, I had lost my flying prince, the Great Unclean one, one whole squad of seven nurglings, and 1 squad of plaguebearers (mishaped on my own models). Turn five came around, and there was a solid wall of nurglings between his forces and Epidemius. Two of my princes were sitting on his objective, which was all the way across the board. There was just no way for him to get to me. At the end of the turn, the two came up, and it was a 1-0 victory for team fail.

Reminds me of a game I played years ago, warhammer fantasy battles Undead vs. Empire. Second turn, no fighting has been done yet and Karl Franz flies over on Deathclaw. They kill my Liche and his chariot, which with that edition meant that my army fades away because their leader is dead. The shortest battle of WFB I'd ever played. Those are good for a laugh, as long as the other guy has a sense of humor.

Which is exactly why it was a 1-0 win. The plaguebearer squad on his home objective scored and the daemon princes on the opponent's objective contested.

But they can certainly discourage two 5 man squads from getting anywhere near an objective. And they'll still contest it.

And how is this a problem? The OP paid attention to the mission at hand where as his opponent did not. This is just a good case of tactical game play. Its like in real life - if you don't follow the rules you wind up in the back of a police car on your way to be a bad mans . Always pay attention to what you have to do.

Danke to all.
Luck was on my side. Had it gone to turn six, the nurglings holding up the defiler would then see the back of Abaddon's claw, in addition to Typhus. At max, it would have been a draw for him, though.

Two reasons:
1. Terrain bottleneck
2. His defiler filling up said bottleneck. The defiler was in CC with two nurgling squads that he couldn't kill fast enough.

So did he metagame himself into a corner or something and use Typhus and Abby with too light a hand? He should've been running over Nurglings in his Raiders and getting royally 'stuck in' versus the Epi/Daemons squad.

He made some major mistakes and played for the draw from the outset. If I were him, I would have dumped abby and ty off, got the troops in the LRaiders, and taken/contested "his" objective. He didn't think that 2 speeding LR's with 5 dudes with bolters could finish off 2 nurgle princes in time for him to take the objective. I have to admit he had a point.
Abby and ty could have finished off the nurglings that were locked in with the defiler, but they got distracted by the GUO and the Winged Prince, and one of the other squads of nurglings. He also track of turns. He loaded typhus and retinue in a LR on turn five, got them in assault range of Epidemius and friends (but not near enough to contest), but couldn't assault because he had just embarked that turn. If we had gone to six, different story. Still, he would have been facing 14 plaguebearers + Epidemius wounding on 2+ (with a reroll [s4 with poisoned weapons]) that just became power weapons. Also, Epi and pals would have struck first (as they were in cover), and termies can't have grenades.

I had one of those games years ago, where I had my Callidus hold up a 2000-point Eldar army for 6 turns. I don't know I did it, or why it worked, but for some reason I kept the whole army at bay. The rest of my Guard army did nothing except fire a few autocannon shots all game. I think I lost 6 Guardsmen and 1 wound on the Callidus.

It was weird. We were trying out the Ulthwe Strike Force for the first time, and I had my gunline set up in a series of bunkers. The Eldar unit with the Wraithgate set up behind a forest that I couldn't see.
At some point the Wraithgate opened and out came Warwalkers and some other things. I brought out the Callidus and she flamed a unit of Guardians and the War Walkers at the same time. With the WW's all shaken or stunned whatever the Neural Shredder does to vehicles, I charged the Guardians.
I then kept jumping in and out of combat, always getting the charge, always manoeuvring in a way so I could cover multiple units with my flamer, taking the vehicles out the game and keeping the troops locked in place. She ended up in HTH with the War Walkers at one point (where she suffered her only wound). I don't know remember how I did it but it was very strange. Game ended with the Eldar force still squished in that corner, out of LOS from most of my Guard, my Callidus standing triumphant before them with one wound.
Really odd game. Haven't played another one like it since.

I had a heroic unit experience, although it was not quite as impressive as the callidus assassin.
I brought in a 6 man unit of wolf scouts behind enemy lines to hit a unit of necrons that were hanging out behind a monolith. They were outfitted with 2 plams pistols, 2 pws, and a meltagun. They came in on turn 4 shot up a unit of 20 necrons, dropping 4 of them. Two came back. They rapid fired on me and I made an insane amount of saves, losing only 2 scouts. I also took fire from the monolith and made all my saves there. I shot and assaulted the necron warriors taking out 4 of them. I lost one more scout in the close combat.
On the next necron turn the warriors teleported out of combat and through monolith to face down my grey hunters. I took another round of fire from the monolith and lost another scout.
Turn six comes around and I manage to glance and destroy the monolith with my meltagun scout. It was a longshot as I had to roll a six to glance and then another six for the destruction result. I was very proud of my scouts that day.

I think we've all had on of those WTF moments. I had four daemon codex Bloodletters charge a guard platoon hq and lose combat to them.
I also heard the during a fantasy GT several editions ago, a blood thirster charged into a unit of ranked halflings, whiffed entirely, lost combat due to ranks, fled three inches, and was promptly run down by the tubby bastards.

2 ork boyz remaining, assaulted by 10 termies. Orks win combat, sweeping advance slaughter ensues.
Also! At the same time! 22 Ork boyz charge an IG squad of 4 men left. Boys lose combat, and again with the sweeping advance.
Those two happened within 4 days of each other, and since then I've lost any thought that this game isnt 100% luck lol.
