Seeing as Chaos marines cant recruit new members, and seeing as they are always picking fights surely the traitor legions numbers are falling so at some point in the near 40K future they will all go *POOF* and disappear....

Or does the fluff say that the Chaos gods resurect them.... ?

Yeh as Belphagor hinted at with Storm of Iron, Chaos marines will often try and capture imperium gene seed stock. The statement "Chaos marines cant recruit new members" is plain false.

So what your sayying is the Chaos Marines capture new stocks of gene seed (which i think would be a big effort in its self) and the go through the process of impanting the different oprgans ect.....

Yes that's what I'm saying. For example, big effort or not 'Storm of Iron,' as Belphegor mentioned, is a book where the iron warriors do exactly that.

It was mentioned in the fluff of one of the previous Chaos Space Marine codexes that they recruit from primitive populations within the eye of terror, and that their processes for shaping new chaos space marines was exceptionally brutal. Ave Chaotica!

Supposedly Fabius Bile (formerly of the Emperor's Children) understands a great deal about genetics and has decoded much of the Astartes design. He helps many of the chaos legions with such issues. The books also mention the Iron Legion "recently" managed to grab a geneseed depository from the Adeptus Mechanicus and was, with the help of the Savage Morticians (Dark Mechanicus), growing skinless replacement space marines in tanks though a cloning process and then covering them with skin grown and fremoved from horribly fat people on tissue farms on Medrengard. Honsou, the junior commander who finished that siege and raid, was reviled within his own legion for having been implanted with geneseed stolen from the Imperial Fists chapter instead of original Iron Legion geneseed.

Nope

Didn't think you would.

What I mean is Chaos Marines essentially recruit themselves, since they're Marines who go evil.

Look out the window...

It was written somewhere that Fabius Bile not only understands how Space Marines are created but can create his own Marines and helps all the Chaos Legions so as to not form an enemy with any of them.

Also not all Chaos Marines are "recruited" from Space Marines. In Dark Disciple (No spoilers) One Word Bearer remembers back to the time he and his best friend were recruited to become Word Bearers and he and his friend were already full grown men, not Marines.
So the secret to creating Marines is out there in the hands of Chaos.

Replacement space marines

I thought so. CSM are not real space marines then.

In the long run, the CSM would be smurfs, because most geneseed comes from gullymans boys.
Could happen, the former legions geneseed extinct ( except that secured portion at genebanks on Terra).

Right on.

Chaos corrupts, the warp isn't capable of supporting the transformation process.
You'll get mutants or monsters but no real fully functioning space marine.

NO
1) create his own marines?
i think you overestimate this corrupted apothecary a lot.

2)The word bearers in "dark disciple" were recruited when their primarch was around, so any process used before heresy may not be done 10k years later. Loss of technology in the war.

Ummm....it's more of a Graham McNeil thing I guess. He wanted to have skin farms and some hulking skinless reject marines running around on Medrengad giving disgraced Ultramarines Uriel Ventris and Pasanius a hard time.

Maybe the Iron Legion thinks that starting out life without any skin builds character. And I guess not having any skin to begin with makes adding the black carapace a whole lot easier...

Actually he IS right. Ive got the Chaos codex that says it. It says that he creates new marines for any chaos legion wanting to pay his prices. That way he is "friends" with all legions, granting him protection from forces in the Imperium that want him dead for doing what he does.

Really there are more then one way they get there ranks up. making new marines, renegades and im sure theres others

Bile claims to be able to do so. A little difference.

It never says he creates new"marines". The story goes about "enhanced humans", more crazy mutants than intelligent warriors.

While the repurposing of gene seed as told in Storm of Iron and the careful ministrations of Dr. Bile are both ways in which the CSM legions create their own.

I forget which CSM codex it was - I'm at work and cannot wander over to my library - but it says something about how they are chosen from a planet's population, usually during a chaos incursion, and then Dark Mechanicus and Sorcerers "begin their work".

As for where they recruit their own, there are plenty of planets within the Eye of Terror from which to fill their ranks.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Ermm...you are all forgetting that they can also create Marines in the same way as Imperial forces do, by removing the progenoids from fallen Marines and implanting them in new recruits.....I know for a fact that the Red Corsairs do this, read the latest Chaos Codex and the chapter about the taking of the Wolf of Fenris!

If the Corsairs can do this, so can the more mature Legions.

Man down, Man down....

well no the mature legions cannot use their gene seed( well effectively or to any use other than to kill and mutate somethhing into uselessness), in Apothecary's Honors Fabrikus makes it very clear that the warp is making the gene seed null with mutations, so chaos needs to gather fresh gene seed from untainted sources IE Imperial Marines
