How coincidental.

I was planning on getting my avatar tat'd on me this weekend.

I made it through military service without tats, and my wife says she bought me uniked and uninked I shall stay. Alternately, she says I can get whatever tat I like, but she will remove it with a hot knife. To be perfectly honest, I've never seen a design I really care to have on my body for eternity, so it's no huge concern for me.

THIS. Sometimes I feel like some people really don't think tats through.

Hell, I've thought about it for years. But it's just not important enough for me to really pursue. And the damn htings, if done by a proper artist, are damn expensive. And as far as the whole "The pain is the point, the ink is just a souvenier" perspective, I have plenty of scars thanks.

Tattoos aren't forever - you'll die sometime, then you'll never have to look at them again and no one will ever see them again! Unless you go out like the Iceman or something and get all mummified.

Possible tattoo pics later when I'm not so lazy.

Not totally true, you could always get scraped and then have a chunk of your skin put in the wellcome trust in london like this french sailor from 1850-1900:

Hopefully that will happen based on some of the great tattoos out there.

I don't totally underrstand, Frazz.
I won't have any problem explaining my ink to my grandkids at all (my current one is 18 months old. She'll be old enough to ask about them soon).
Every tattoo is a miniature piece of art that I connect with somehow. Each one has a meaning. Gargoyles were, traditionally, used as protection. That's what my gargoyle represents (I was in training to be a bodyguard at the time, so there was a connection).
My angel tattoo was put on at the same time that my oldest daughter got her first tattoo. She really needed an angel to watch over her. So, now, when I see that ink, it's a physical reminder to me that I need to pray for her (she STILL needs that angel).

I have 6 tattoos. Every one has a reason or a story.

For me, there won't be any problem.

I understand where you're going re: Tramp Stamps, but the majority of people who have ink LIKE their ink. I don't foresee any explanation issues for most of us.

Will you like your ink when you're 65 and all those tats are unrecognizable stretched blobs? How about grandma?

Opinions differ and thats ok. I grew up when-unless you were in the military-having a tattoo meant you were trash. Triple that for women with tattoos.

I don't care. I just think its funny.

Remember boys and girls, any tattoos showing will limit your chances at that job interview.

This entirely depends upon where you are interviewing. They actually improve your odds at Harley dealerships.

I doubt people posting here are going to be working in harley dealerships. It would be an interesting poll to see how many people on this board, besides myself, have ever worked on a bike?

yea, you've a good point there (excuse me, I'm having some dry heaves at the thought)

I apologize for almost sidetracking this thread:

1. If you like tattoos great, just keep them where they can be covered by a shirt when needed.

2. Now back to people showing their tattoos (Like Malf, I keep thinking the title of this thread is something else as well). We need some female participation here

Edit: Tattoo from Photobucket of a ravenor tattoo.
