I don't know if I'll do much with the new IG book. maybe finish my SWAT army, despite the loss of camo. Looking at how long it takes me to finish armies these days that's probably a safe goal.

But the ideas... the ideas they keep coming!

Space Pirates of Space Piracy!
(name subject to change)

Yarrick as a hook-handed half metal pirate king.
Sly as his nasty mutant enforcer

Maxed valkyries or vendettas.
Heavy on vet squads (cadian/empire militia kit bash)
Heavy on penal legions
Psyker squad
At least one huge mob of slave/conscripts

Garish paint scheme, no tanks, maybe sentinels...

I am SO tempted.

What other ideas do people have in their minds?

Traitor Guard.

You always read in the fluff about how there are heretics within and the like and that the Imperium often battles with traitors. Well, then, lets see 'em!

It'd actually be kinda standard though, I might go for:

Elysians. I loved the drop trooper idea, but now, thanks to the new Valkyrie kit (which is quite nice, IMHO), I can have all the drop troop fun I'd need

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

If company command squads are BS all round and infantry platoons are not mandatory I might try and build an Elysian D-99 with the codex instead of using the list found in IA 4.

A Spearhead Regiment is what I'm planning on as my "fun" army.
Hardened Veterans in Troops, with the nastiest kit loadouts I can think of, and wearing Carapace.
Stormtroopers in Elites.
A Command squad mounted in a Chimera.
Chimeras for the basic Infantry.
Fast Attack being 2 squads of Sentinels, 1 of Vendettas.
Leman Russes in Heavy.

Rolling Thunder, woooooooo.

Nurgle-themed Traitor guard. I wanted to do this since I first read the LatD list in Eye of Terror.
I already kitbashed Plague Monks, Guardsmen, Flagelants and Zombies as Conscripts/cultists (pics coming soon) and I'm going to use a Scavvi Gang I had still lying around as penal legion.
For normal platoons I'm going to buy all those cool Forge World traitor guard bodies and then I just need some idea how to make veterans (probably with a focus on stealth) and Storm Troopers, which will probably ride in a Valkyre.
And the Hellhound variant with the slime cannon is a must.

OMG Yes. This would rule. A supply/logistics army would also rule. You could have chimeras without passengers (cuz they're carrying food and stuff) and your troops could be those krieg guys standing at ease in line waiting for food. Commissar Lord is required.

Had ideas similar to others but one not metioned: Penal Legion. Models in the penal legion units would look similar to guys I game with or face alot in tournaments. I'd have a fat nerdy comissar that looks like me. Some vterans for arbites, maybe a full on conscript unit with comissar and priest.

I don't have the GS/scuplting chops to really pull it off as well as I imagine it so I'll prolly just make a traitor guard army full of mutant conscripts and chained psychers.

Yeah, because that won't look stupid.

Let's just fill it with Huns, Taliban, and Redcoats too.

Maybe some Ogres or Hobbits, as long as we're at it.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. Probley will be scratching the remainder of my steel legion models for DoK models (I have enough just not to custom kit) when I get back from Iraq.

Then rebuild the Armageddon Death Korps of Krieg mechanized list with a lot of Kommissar's and Rough Riders (2 squads at least). So thats what I'm going to do.

Actually, the new codex is extremely promising for fielding an Adeptus Arbites army:

- CCS can be in Carapace
- Vets can be in Carapace and carry shotguns - 4-5 squads of these can be the bulk of your troops
- Penal Squads - very fluffy!
- Rough Riders - model them on SM Scout bikes for bike cop goodness, or on horses for mountie-style police action.
- Banewolf - a chemical projector that incapacitates your foes? Sounds like a water cannon to me!
- Valks and Vendettas - here comes the SWAT Chopper!

While you'd be missing some of the fluffier Arbites aspects like Riot Shield/Power Baton troops lined up in ranks (although you can do a few with DH Crusaders) or Executioner Shotgun rounds, in a lot of ways, this codex is an Arbites player's dream come true!

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

With the emphasis on line infantry I plan on fielding an Infantry company.

That's it.

I can fit an entire below-average strength company in at 2k points. I will be doing so.

Guardsmen! ADVANCE ON THEM!

You can even fit a full-strength classic guard company in 2K.

CCS

3 Platoon each with 3 squads of 10 men.

Comes out around 1K. That leaves a whole 1,000 pts to roll on with some tanks!

I'd still like to play an Ogre Kingdoms assault army:

Commissar Lord (modelling project: an ogre in Commissar's uniform!)
GK Grand Master

5x Ogryn w/Chimera (extra armor)
5x Ogryn w/Chimera (extra armor)
5x Ogryn w/Chimera (extra armor)

PCS w/4 melta, Chimera
2x autocannon squads

PCS w/4 melta, Chimera
2x autocannon squads

Choice of heavy support

Not a prayer of being competitive, but it would be a joy for people to play against - it's exactly contrary to what people expect the Guard to do, and gives them something worth hitting with their assault units. Not sure how to babysit that third Ogryn squad; maybe a Cannonness with Book would be preferable, or else an allied Sister's unit could pack the book along, and drive behind the Chimerae.

CCS

-Banner, Medic, Vox, 2 BGs

Platoon x 3
-PCS

-2 Infantry Squads (GL and HB/AC)

LRBT - LC, 2 HB, Extra Armor
LRBT - HB, 2 HB, Extra Armor
3 Basilisk - Camo Netting

2,000pts. Pretty basic gak. Not sure how to grab objectives, but may drop a platoon and a bassie for a 3-melta Vet squad in a Vendetta with demolition and Harker. Could be pretty hard.

That would be hilarious, Janthkin. I'd give you major kudos for playing it.

I'm actually going to paint my Slaaneshi Traitor Guard force.

Looking forward to a renegade IG Psyker and a choir of tortured Psykers. Need to decide if the renegade Demagogue will be a Commissar Lord or CCS.
