This is my first post here since finding my way via a convoluted Google search. Anyhow, have picked up playing Epic, 40K and Blood Bowl after some years absence and am looking to build my army collection back up. I had an extremely decent Epic 40K Ork army many moons ago (this was back in the early nineties - I think we are talking the Epic Space Marine version) but my grandmother happily donated my entire army to a charity shop years ago. So now I am faced with building the army back up again. Just wondered if any of you had some tips about the best places to hunt for this sort of stuff. Ebay used to be an excellent mine for armys and collections but I have noticed in recent years, people are starting to wise up and overprice a lot of stuff so the opportunity to pick up a bargain is diminishing.

Try Chaosorc's Superstore.

A good selection of OOP stuff there, some is reasonably priced (Ork and Marine infantry on square bases), some not (rare vehicles, mostly).

try bartertown as well as ebay. chaosorc has a good selection of stuff for sure, and they get the random restock too.

If you can find somewhere local with players, then see if they have stuff to swap sell. At our local club we can provide new players with the basics of an army from our own collections, as we have so many minis lying around.

Chaos Orc is a good spot. You could also post on the exchange boards on theminiaturespage.com

A lot of guys there have Epic minis.

No, not really. Only some of the legal models are available. Let alone armies that they use to make that aren't even talked about at GW. I agree with Cybershadow, Tac Comms is the best to get back and to stay in Epic.

Bit of a necro for which I apologise but it is a valid point:

I am looking for some now OOP Epic minis and have found what I am looking for on the ChaosOrc superstore site linked above (specifically a Great Unclean One and Mortarion). However, from what I can tell, these minis were added to the stock back in 2005 so I am wondering if the site is out of date.

Can anyone vouch for it? Has anyone ordered from there before? Do they ship to UK?

If not, can anyone recommend any Epic webstores that are UK based and that deal in 2nd Ed models?

ChaosOrc is pretty ok. In general you get what the web says. However I have gotten some halfpainted stuff when the web said that it would be unpainted. I've heard that some others have had problems with getting stuff sent, but I've not had any such problems myself. I have used ChaosOrc for perhaps 3 or 4 times (but not for year or two as I haven't had any need).

Agreed. there are also 3rd party providers, depending on what you're looking for.

And of courser there is GW. their prices aren't too bad for epic items.

Yeah I would go to GW but they don't do the old Greater Daemon / Primarch models any more.

I'd just get a 40K base troop demon. Thats about right for GD size. Furies also work for winged versions.

I've got a bunch up on the swap shop. Price wise I'm asking about 50% of GW and less for troops.

Of course having just realized how much GW want for these, maybe I should put my price up. I mean, $20 for one super heavy? Damn. Maybe its to make the 40K prices look nicer.
