Got a bit of a modelling bug tonight and started work on a kitbashed stormraven.

Got the basic body all in place, still needs a lot of styrene work to mesh the two bodies together better and to close up the nose section, Had to change the angle of the upper door on the assault ramp so I'll be filling in the gaps around it and building a new hinge housing. Assault cannons will be added under the front canard wings, one on each side.

I may remove the head light housings on the nose as it'd give it a slightly smoother profile, will be doing some thinking before I cut them free. The vents on the valk wings will be going, not a fan of the pipe/tube shape they have and doesn't match the profile of the thunderhawk wings which I want this design to mimic.

The engines aren't attached yet, just set them on top of the model for the pics. Going to have to put some thought into how to mount them as they have the weird flat side and notches by the intakes.

I may end up doing this with a Templars paint pattern, I know it's not in their codex but I have a templars army and don't want to start over with starting a fresh BA list, so I'll play my templars figures with BA rules.

Its a nice kitbash, and certainly meets the right kind of profile, but dear lord it looks unbalanced

Good job GW foresaw this type of thing and came up with suspensor technology

Nice work though and looking forward to seeing the next stage.

It looks like a Valkyrie crashed into the rear of a land raider, survived and swooped up in the sky again with the front of said Land Raider on its nose..

Then again, I like the kitbash.. as does the CEO of GW, he probably has this Mr. Burns pose and whispers "excellent" as countless hobbyists purchase LR and Valkyrie bits around the globe. Sneaky, sneaky GW..

Good stuff. Are you planning on Assault Cannons?

Nice and clean overall. My suggestion would be to add more wingspan to the model overall.

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

Bit more work done, the assault ramp I think fits the profile a lot better, looks a bit less like the indented rander front and a bit more like the thunderhawk with a flush ramp. It'll get a strip of styrene to cover up the recess where the tracks were and make it flush with the rest of the hull. Cock pit was lifted slightly and forward sensors added. Assault cannons added, may go back to pop them loose so I can magnetize them for switching out with lascannons.

Looks nice- perhaps removing the toothed edge of the landraider section would improve it? (At the bottom). It would streamline the whole model, and make it look more like an aircraft. To that end, you could maybe file off the bumps on the side doors too.

I also think that the top of the passenger bay needs dressing. If you had anymore engines, I'd suggest those.

Mom said being a procrastinator wouldn't help me in life ... WRONG, Mom !!! This way I let all these other modellers do the thinking and trouble-shooting for me while I conserve my rapidly dwindling brain cells !!

FANTASTIC WORK !!!! By far one of my favorite versions of the Storm Raven.

I agree with others who suggest adding a second set of engines. Brackets are already in place where the wings connect to the body.

Started on the dreadnought that the stormraven will be carrying:

Used an iron clad as it has two arms, normal dread kit only have a left arm. I'll be replacing the iron clads armor plates with some custom work as it looks a bit blocky for my taste. I like the slightly larger size of the iron clad and think it'll make the Furioso stand out a bit more. Only real change to the stock model so far was having off the ribbing on the right arm so it's the same length as the left.

I custom sculpted the talons from styrene and cast the parts in resin, here's a close up.

The heavy bolters are going to be mounted on the bottom after I get the dreadnought harness pieced together that way I can make sure it's not obstructed by the dread.

People have been requesting shots from the rear and underside etc so here they are.

Haven't gotten any significant new work done yet as I spent most of my time yesterday fussing with the dreadnought claws.

Started on the dreadnought's magnetic clamp.

The servo arms are being held on with sticky tac, they'llbe getting a much more permanant mount once I have a chance to do some more styrene work.

No need for chapterhouse. I've got my own casting business, check my sig. The claws are available and already selling on pre-order
