I just picked this game up (the one for the GBA) and after playing 40k.....It's amazing!
tank- Leman Russ
Md Tank- Land Raider
Mega Tank- Baneblede
Apc- Rhino
Bomber- Storm Raven
Artillery- Basilisk
Missile- Manticore
It's hilarious how 40k warps your mind
Aside from that, it's a really good game. Like really good! It's what I always wanted out of fire emblem I recommend it to everyone. If you can't find it in used game store, there's always emulation. It's pretty good on a PC too, since you're not actively pressing buttons.

I loved the first two Advance Wars games on the GBA. Been meaning to pick up the ones for the DS, but I hardly even play that thing regardless.

Original Advance Wars is nearly perfect.
The developers have done a good job ringing the changes, but they have never bettered the core system, just fiddled around the edges.
The levelling system in the most recent version is good.
I put quite a lot of time into converting it to a 3D floor top game called Advance Wars Solid, but I never played it.
Advance Wars, Nobunaga's Ambition and Tetris (original Game Boy) are probably my most played games evar. Plus Team Fortress 2.

I suppose, in that it's a turn-based strategy game with some vaguely historically inspired units. Beyond that though, it doesn't really seem similar to 40k at all. It doesn't have faction specific units, no special abilities in the psyker sense (I don't think CO powers really compare), no CC elements, it has resource management, etc.. etc.. Also, it's just not very grimdark.

Tetris for the gameboy...It was the first video game I ever played. I was 4 years old, and I played it on my dad's black game boy. I got to level 8 before turning 5 Great game. Probably the best controls out of the lot of them.

Oh yea, I love advance wars! I know its really stupid but I love Duel Strike. Turning the battle by duel powers is so awesome. Hawke+Andy+Army of Neotanks and Stealthfighters=You best have a good army to survive
Although Artillery Grit and someone to fund them like collin is also good. Battleships are godly if theres enough water
Oh and they also have an semiofficial TT game

As I get into the game, I'm noticing a lot of things that remind me of 40k. Like uniforms that look just like a commissar's, and things that look like pintle mounted strom bolters Automatically Appended Next Post: kenshin620 wrote:Oh yea, I love advance wars! Props, dude! That means something coming from me
And I thought this was too interesting not to mention: http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/special/tetrishist.html
Basically the only reason Nintendo had Tetris on Gameboy was because they seized the initiative and wrote the first check while everyone else was arguing logistics

Believe it or not, I read that entire passage in my: "History of video games" book (It's like 700 pages long )
Interesting story for sure. Alex Pajitnov gets his name all over the newer games. I'm not sure If his name is on the GB version.
And thanks. She's a keeper

No, I played it back when it came out (a long time ago) on the GBA. I wasn't very good though, so I quickly dismissed it

I've played Dual Strike a little bit on the DS. Thought it was fun... influenced my purchase of Days of Ruin... played that for a bit but I'm stuck now. Regardless, its pretty dang fun. Once I finish up the Final Fantasy games I might revisit Advance Wars.
