You should shoot another pic with a bit of fill in light so people can see the face better.

From the shadows, the light source is high above and behind his right shoulder. All you probably need is a sheet of white paper held up beside the model and facing it to bounce the light back.

Thanks! I really need to get a new camera to be honest as my one struggles at getting good close ups. I have been looking at some bridge cameras.

Lighting is something I am finding hard to be honest.

Taking pictures of such small modes as LOTR models is something I really struggle with.

your highlighting is brilliant. I love the tones of the hat and cloak. My favorite part of the character is the base...its incredibly realistic. Can you give us an idea of what you used for the foliage?

I used Woodland Scenics Dead Foliage and cut bits off and stuck them down with super glue.
