Hey everyone, I'm from the city which is home to the only Games Workshop in the province.

I came to this site since a lot of the times I was searching to learn about 40K it popped up most often. Plus the name rocks.

I'm just getting into Warhammer 40K, I bought a copy of White Dwarf to see what it's like and then I took a painting lesson at Games Workshop since I've never painted miniatures before, or anything really.

It was really fun and super relaxing, I did better than I thought I would. Here's the results: http://twitpic.com/3gcevc

After that I bought the Space Marine Codex book and am planing on getting that 6 Space Marine paint starter.

I'm not sure how quickly I'll be getting into it since I have a severely limited budget at the moment, so tips on starting off my army cheaply will be great. (though if this isn't the place I'll make a thread elsewhere) I definitely want to practice painting as much as possible, though I'm not sure how creative on the colour scheme's I'll get.

I hope to meet a lot of fun people and learn a lot here.

Helloes and welcome!
Good enough for a first ever painter though their is ofcourse room for improvement first you should repost it on this forum in the Painting and Modeling section to increese the feedback you get, also a "sharper" picture would be nice, if you are having trouble getting focus on the model try setting up a sheet of paper something in the background to help the camera focus, there are some good tutorials around here, should you need it. Anyways...a cookie to you for actually painting the eyes, I myself avoided those like the plague when I first started, by the looks of the picture you should try to paint in thinner layers(might just be the image quality though). Also the colours looks iregular, did you basecoat the model before you painted it? that always help for a better result. Since you already "braved" the eyes I'd say go for painting the other details also, if your having trouble getting the paint where it should be you might need to go shopping for a smaller brush.

Thanks for sharing and let me once again welcome you to dakkadakka and the Space Marine way of life, may your bolter never fail.

Hey "neighbor", welcome to Dakka. I'm about 3 hrs south of you. Used to got to Montreal a lot to catch gigs but not so much since Uncle Sam started making it harder to come home than leave...

Good first effort. I agree w/ everything above. Repost in P&M forum for more responses, and experiment with lighting and focus for your pics.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

I think the unevenness is part lighting and part me using a little too much wash.

Details were annoying for me, but I let them spill and went back over the spills slowly with blue.

Also, damn it's late. It's almost three. I didn't realize how late I was up until I was chatting with someone from Sweden. XD
