Hey, here is my first attempt at a converted 'Ard boy from scratch materials. I used a thin sheet of aluminum for the Iron Gob, and the 'Eavy Armor. I was only planning on doing the gob at first, so i primed, and added armor, and primed again. I tried to maintain the detail with a brush (I aerosol the primer on) where it pooled and whatnot. I think the detail is still good. The edges and corners where left rough, to keep the armor looking orky. The boys I am using are second hand (hence the partially painted minis) , cost me 1.50 each.

My future 'ard boys will have detail, layered plates, rivets and whatnot added onto the armor. C&C is more than welcome, and any suggestions would be great.

Here is my second 'Ard Boy. I am taking my time with the converting. A bit of a tedious process. I've been a little too busy during my break from work to do much painting and modeling. So, here he is! an 'Ard Boy equipped with an iron gob, arm guards, and a bloody riot shield! I've seen several pictures on the web of orks with shields, and I thought they look great! I kind of like converting orks. The rough edges on the amor is really "Orky". Though I don't take credit for the idea, C&C would be appreciated.

I am only going to make 5 shielded 'Ard Boyz. The mob will consist of a front line (the shielded boys), the body of the mob (unshielded, but still armored), and a 'Ard Nob. I am going to make the rest of the Boyz after I finish painting the front line. I think they turned out great. Some of the arms are tacked on for the sake of this picture. I removed them for the sake of making the painting behind the shields more manageable.

Looks like you're off to a good start but you should really watch out for the mould lines, just scrape a modelling knife along them at an angle of about 45 degrees, it'll make the models look a whole lot better.

You can also do this on the edges of plasticard to remove the rough edge caused by cutting it.

Of course, sometimes the rough edges are better, ei ork armour.

As Wib said, you're off to a good start, but don't forget the rivets on the body armour.

Here is the rest of the mob almost ready for painting. They have iron gobs mounted, and leg armor. I still have to do their arm armor. These pictures show the front view, and the rear view (which also shows the green stuff straps that would be "holding" the armor onto the Orks.
