This is my first dakka post in awhile and the some of the first nearly finished models I've done since about 2000. I'm just wondering what some feedback you guys might have and any tips for a newb painter are. This is my first piranha and I'm pretty happy with it. I'll post more photos as I finish more.

I was about to paint my Retribution of Scyrah models studio colour... but now you have shown me this wonderful colour scheme. May I borrow from your inspiration because I think my Discordia would look dead sexy dolled up in ice blue.

''Pretty'' happy with it?

You should be DAMN happy with that. Those lines are so fine, and stunning, you have an artist's hand. Try alot of really detailed models, I think you'd be good at that.

I surprisingly like this scheme. Quite a bit actually. There is a fine line between making something look like a postmodern dystopian critique and a post-postmodern symbol of clean progress, which this scheme walks like a PRO.

Very nice clean painting. The scheme is lacking contrast though, just too much blue without enough accenting panels.

I'm actually waiting till I get more practice until I hit the detailed modles such as crisis suits, and go ahead I'm sure you can work wonders with the ice blue.

I also ran into the contrast problem that's why I put the grey on it, any suggestions for contrast would be awesome.
The reason I chose ice blue was exactly that, good clean future compared to the dirty dismal future of marines and else. Wasn't really planning on doing camo for it because I already wear and see enough canmo in my line of work.
Thanks for the praises!

I really like the contrast, and I think it will be equally sharp on your crisis/stealth suits.

Firstly, welcome to Dakka!

Secondly, what a great fist step into the community. The model looks very fresh, with a strong anime look that is a fitting nod to the tau aesthetic influence. Now that the the pretentious part is done from me, I'd like to see some more of your work please!

Thanks for the welcome! As your request I asked my wife to take some photos of my infantry that are close to being done (just need to hammer out the fine touches) and another photo of the piranha with the drones:

There you have it, I'll update more as I paint more, time permitting of course.

Crisis Suits are surprisingly easy to paint, due to their size.

By the way, nice FWs, they are sort of my achilles heel...

Very nice paint scheme, with snow bases or something similar they would be astounding.

Yeah, this somehow reminds me of Akira, but I have no idea why.

It has a sort of clean-creepy that comes across very nicely.

They look good so far, but if I were you, I'd add more white (one side of the helmet, a part of the shoulder pad) because right now, they look too blue to me

You might want to add some other coulours i.e. white on the middle panel/Empire icon on their shoulder pads.
