Hi there boys and girls! welcome to mográine's little fortress log!
In this log i'll document the process of making a fortress (not a complete fortress, only the wall sections etc.)
So i've been inspired by this picture:
Made by sttheo on deviantart. (he has some other awesome pieces of art, mainly grey knights and some space marines)
In the right of the picture you can see the fortress walls, they aren't really all that detailed so most of it i'll have to fill in myself.
Right, now onto the pictures!
First off i started making a mock-up out of corrugated cardboard (which will be replaced by foamboard once i like it) so that i get the size and everything right.
The wall-sections will be 25
CM high, and the towers a little bit higher (i'm thinking 35
CM)
i added some decorative arches, but i'm not to sure about them, should i add another layer to them or leave it?
Next up i made the little blocks on the top (look closely in the picture, you can see them)
I made the using foamboard and cardboard, the black pieces are foam,
And here they are on the fortress,
Looking quite nice already huh? except the front looks abit flat, so i addes some "supports" to them,
Actually it's just one, but in between each of the arches there'll be one. this one is just a rectangular piece of foamboard with a diagonal ending, but i'm not to sure about it. i feel it doesn't really fit with the arches and the block on top. Any suggestions?
That's it for now, next up i'll finish the supports and start on the top of the walls. And the back will also have to get something done, except that i have NO idea what to do here, so i'll need some help with that.
i'll need your feedback on the following things:
- the arches, another layer or not?
- the blocks, are they apart enough or not or to far?
- the supports, what should i do with this?
- the back/top, any ideas?
greetings,
mográine
