Nice job. Is this one of the new FineCasts?

I would have chosen a brown for the boots, to make them stand out a bit more from the pants, but otherwise, good job.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

I totally concur with the above comments, looks really good, the shading on the black fatigues works really well, great job. How did you find painting the resin? I'm looking forward to getting my first finecast, in spite of all the haters I think the change will be positive.

Love this guy! The white gloves really do it for me. I could imagine him inspecting the barracks with those badboys during the off hours, much to the Guardsmen's dismay.

It could maybe be better, but I have chosen black to fit with the rest of my army. But in real life they are semi-gloss. Its a subtle change from the pants.

jirc wrote:How did you find painting the resin?

Kinda like plastic, but I have enjoyed it more, because it has so many more sharp details. It pushes myself to paint better and better.
But when the model has been undercoated black for example I was kinda bummed that you could not see that much detail. But when it is finished you can see the detail again.

And thanks everybody for the kind words, but no C&C what so over? No mistakes anywhere? (except for the boots, but they are different in real life.)

A commissar in brown boots? That's unthinkable!

Really nice paint job by the way, though you may want to do a bit of colour correction on the photo, as it has a bluish tinge

Wow, love the way you did the sash, and the freehand on the cape looks great!

One gripe though is that the sword is a little dull compared to the rest of the model.

It seems like the white balance may be off. I don't have an iphone, but you should be able to change your white balance settings when you take the photo.

Anyway on how to improve it? Because I don't want a power sword thingie or such, just a normal sword.

If I were you, I would do a slight drybrush of Mithril Silver or Chainmail, depending on how bright you want to it, then follow up with Badab Black or, if just going with chainmail, a coat of satin varnish. Otherwise, I really like it - definately one of the few arguements FOR finecast that I have seen.

I would say NMM would be a nice effect to use on the sword, similiar to the one that the GW artist did in the advertising.

I like the sword being dullish, adds to the models subtle tones. Nicely done

Okay, is that grimace exclusive to the resin version, because I've never seen it before.

He looks like he left the wash note on inside his briefs. Which has to suck when you've got all that stuff on.

I mean it in a good way of course, very well done. The sash is excellent.

Lookin' good, but you need to take some better pictures, and from more angles! Just set up an impromptu lightbox with some white paper and a lamp and get some good pictures. He looks awesome, but I'd love to see more!

OMG that actully looks like the one I have except I painted the red bits blue. other than that, totally the same, if I did not have my model in my hand, I would have to say you stole my LOL.

I think you did a great job on yours, I would painted my commisar the same if the person I did the commission for did not ask for blue. Just couldn't convice him that red was better lol.
