Deathwing Terminator with Assault Cannon

Ok boys and girls I am looking at running a deathwatch campaign, however where I live there is very little in the way of 40k, so what do you guys recommend using for props and units?
EDIT:To clarify in this area there are a grand total of 3 known players, 2 SM and one nid, so Deathwatch and Tyranids are taken care of, I also have D&D minis and I already have plenty of grid.

Well start small and just do Marines v Tyranids to start. Then you can get little small 'NPC' forces to act as adversaries in games (I was just given a small force of Tau to act as Tau adversaries).

I won't lie, since this is my first time as a GM for Deathwatch I will be running with one of the precon adventures that are out there so as to lighten my load.

Well that's good, as both the intro adventures (available at the FFG website) involve Genestealers and Tyranids.

You don't have to do everything with miniatures. I mean, we do - because we're crazy that way and own just about every army other than Dark Eldar - but you can abstract some things and do them cerebrally.

I've used my dnd minis for dark heresy before, they can work in deathwatch just as well. There really isn't ANY minis specifically for any of the 40k rpg games however, so just get a hold of what you can.

Hum? I am working on a game for DWatch and I didn't really feel that you needed minis for it. Am I wrong?
I know it is nice for some major combats and what not but Should I plan on bringing miniatures into the game?

Miniatures are not required in the slightest. They do make things easier for combats (though the truth is you could use coins on a grid to show where things are), and we use them just because we were 40K players first and therefore have vast armies of models to use.

I have always wanted to be a GM (even I have never had experience in the RPG business) for deathwatch, is it good?
