How does one paint stone? I have a couple of fantasy guys on some large rubble and I have no idea how to paint their bases. Do I have it primed black and then heavy dry-brush?

We are winged salvation, but we are a terrible, final salvation, and our wings embrace the horizon with fire. We are the Blood Angels. To confront us is to die, and death is my remit, my reality, my unbounded domain. I have known death, and defeated it, claimed it as my own. To my cost, to my strength, death is my one gift to bestow, and I am nothing if not generous.

I do black primer, Administratum Grey (I think?), and then a healthy dose of Nuln Oil wash. It won't win any Golden Demon awards but it looks fine for table-top quality imo.

depends on the color of stone... for fantasy rubble i wouldnt use black or dark grey as a base because it will end up looking like concrete and that looks off for WHFB...
i suggest using a dark yellow/light brown base with dust colored highlights

Got milk?

All I can say about painting is that VMC tastes much better than VMA... especially black...

These are my bases and they are pretty easy to do, its quick and done not look half base for stone.

1)base black.

2)Dry brush a dark gray

3) dry brush a lighter gray on top of that,

4) do another light dry brush of white over it. make sure you get white on all the edges to look like its broken off.

the coals are also pretty easy if you are interested in them just let me know, kind of a mad pic of them but adding new ones soon.

To many unpainted models to count.

Depends on the "shape" of the rock.

If it's really coarse rock I just prime black, dry brush dark grey, dry brush mid-grey and then dry brush light grey.

For smoother rock I prime black, paint dark grey, wash black, dry brush mid-grey and then dry brush light grey.
