During my last trip to the local model shop which really only does scale models, my wife and I decided to really dig through a shelf of miscellaneous in the back. I've picked through lightly before but not found much. They've got several random historical police and military figures of various scales, a couple boxes of random resin bits, kits, and figures. Amongst the brass etch, and metal tank barrels and artillery shells were a few plaster and resin terrain kits. Most were priced as usual for pre-made terrain, but then I found this! For a measly $10, it's a great plaster and resin turret and bunker kit! The scale is great, and this weekend I'm going to get some spackle from the hardware shop to texture the base and make it look sunken into the ground a bit, and pick up a box of Verlinden artillery and ammunition bits that was on the same shelf to complete it. Then, painting will begin. Also, just got my brand new Badger Patriot! I'll be using it to base coat my barricades to get some practice. Think I may add an Imperial eagle to the front of the bunker, and maybe to the back wall. I decided to keep it all IoM logos instead of SW so it can be a bit more generic and fit in with anyone's list. I'll post more pics this weekend after painting. This is my first real terrain piece, even if it isn't scratch built. I'm excited to complete it. I've had a few lined up but lacked the motivation to get to it. Glad I did and can't wait to finish. If anyone has suggestions or ideas to add, let me hear 'em!

Here's the door. I tried the hairspray technique for the first time on it. Wasn't real pleased with it, but I may not have let the last coat dry enough. Though the weathering didn't quite turn out like I'd envisioned, I think it still looks good, like it's held back many marauding hordes throughout countless campaigns. Since the picture, I also added rust/grime/water streaks coming down from the hinges, bolts and a couple of the bigger rust patches.

With one of my rubble-y barricades. Made two, but have a few more to make as well. I think I'll get some gator board or extruded poly for those bases, that way I can sculpt the sides so they're not so square.

Let me know what you all think so far!

Pretty cool! Very creative, nice work.

Great looking stuff. I really like the sprue tanktrap thingys (can never remember what they're called). I may have to steal that idea.

Thanks!

@Snrub: It's pretty easy, and there are tutorials all over the web. I've heard them called tank traps, dragon's teeth ( though I think that's actually the cement ones), and hedgehogs. Tank trap is what I call them.

The barricades are pretty easy, except I don't have any decent super glue so had to use plastic glue. Worked fine, but the slower time made it more difficult. While I propped them up, gave me time to snip up some more sprue rubble.

Finished the barricades. They were a lot of fun, and practice with my new Patriot was awesome. Such a difference between it and my cheapo. This is only my third time using pigments, the first wash I've made. The more I use them, the more I love them. I think they made a great rusty, oxidation color wash. What do you all think?
