Thanks guys, appreciate the words. It is seeming like they are moving forward quickly. Probably as I am trying to participate in a little painting competition on another forum that aims to do a squad a month. On that note, I was a day late in getting them done, but here are some more finished models.
First up some Shining Spears. Another Aspect I had never actually got around to painting, but have had the models for absolutely ages. I should have chosen a less 'traditional' scheme as my skills are just not up to handle white, especially on the large smooth areas of the bikes. But they are done and I am moving on....
I added a little bling to make the Exarch a bit more obvious and converted him a bigger lance (whose compensating?).
I was very happy with how the riders themselves came up, but they were easier with lots of armour plates to break up the white. The bikes on the other hand are a bit of a mess.
I have actually been quite productive this month and also banged out some Swooping Hawks, not only have I never painted this Aspect I have also never owned any of the models so were one of the last elements I purchased for this army.
The boys in blue, wants to keep them pretty simple and I am overall pretty happy with them. Perhaps a little sloppy in places, but I think from a tabletop height they will do the job.
I usually struggle to get really smooth solid colour on my models, but the feathers on the wings turned out nicely. Didn't want to muddy them with attempting more highlights so they are a little subtle, but I like that solid blue.
The armour ended up more a drybrush than edge highlights, I really, really need to sort out better lighting, but it is different to most of the rest of the army in finish so kind of like the effect making them look a tad differently textured.
A group shot of the latest additions, another 18 models to the years progress so have to be happy with that.
This month will likely slow down a bit as the current models on the table are 3 Wave Serpents. I think I am going to try and do them as a batch, but I may abandon that and do them one at a time depending on how taxing they are. All of them are reclaimed second hand jobs that were in various states of disrepair and missing pieces. I think I have done a reasonable job of repair and replacement so see if I can bring them to life with the paint now.
Thanks for reading.
