I obtained a Dark Vengeance Helbrute recently, in kinda rough shape, and decided to reposition and swap out its arms. One thing I've never liked about the model is the raised fist. Why is it raising its fist that way? Is it flourishing with the powerfist while it shoots? I decided to lower it to a more relaxed position, with the mouth in the palm more visible. Probably going to stick some flame bits in there later.

Both limbs were chopped off. The multimelta was replaced wholesale with an ectoplasma cannon from a forgefiend, attached via magnets for easy removal and REAL SWIVELING ACTION. A few chopped off helbrute cables were used to replace missing bits on the cannon. It's pretty clear that the same guy sculpted both models, as they share a number of similarities that make parts easy to swap.

The shoulder plate from the meltagun arm was used on the fist arm's shoulder, and then positioned in a more manageable stance. This meant that there was no need for greenstuffing and plasticarding an entirely new shoulder, and kept the same aesthetic across the whole arm. Only liquid greenstuff was used for the entire model, and mostly just to fill in small gaps and seams.

One thing I'm not sure about yet is what to use for a head. I definitely didn't want to use the one that came with it, and didn't feel like LEDing this one up like a previous helbrute. Any suggestions on what to use to give it a more mechanical look?

It's a touch too large maybe, but a great idea. Gonna pinch it too as I have 2 hellbrutes on the to do list still.

The size thing can be fixed by setting it further back on the shoulder. I might reposition it anyway since I was going to have some fire spewing out the end of it, and that might stretch it a tad too far.

I thought the fist was raised in preparation of firing the heavy flamer from it's palm...aka the mouth. but I like the conversion sir

That cannon is definately overcompensating for something but its cool so I'll let it slide under Rule of Cool.

Maybe use a head from a CSM? Like a PA head or something.

Ailaros showed a conversion recently where he turned the new hellbrute into a dreadnaught basically. Might find some ideas to pinch, he used a CSM head iirc.
