I'm playing 6th with a friend due to not having the new rulebook, but we like a lot of 4e stuff and like using standard 40k codi.

Some house-rules we are thinking of using:

-Units CAN consolidate into an unengaged enemy, but the enemy gets overwatch as per normal.
-4e USRs like "Furious Charge" changed back to their previous form. (Though unsure about Rage attack spam and other stuff)
-Maybe 4e Damage Chart, but it depends on the compatibility of 7th units. (Maybe we'll use the 7th edition reference tables).

Any suggestions?

I don't know what "4e Damage chart, but it depends on the compatibility of 7th units" means.

Suggestion one is one I've been pushing for some time; force people to spread out and use counterassault units instead of the monodimensional gunlines that are so popular in 7e. As to changing USRs back to their 4e version you're going to need to make a list of which ones you want to change and how before we can help.

The 4e Damage Chart - 7e unit compatibility was a matter if the units that exist now would make the 4e damage chart too crazy.

We played our first game and the only thing we adjusted was Consolidation into charges/ ensuing overwatch.

We used the 6th Edition BRB, I do not like the damage chart, it is too easy to blow up vehicles in 6th. We may use 7th edition reference chart for all the tables in there.

The special rules will be halted. Though the idea was to change Rage at least, preventing that huge attack boost.

Previous List of USR changes: (Small, but it is still something until we find more stuff to adjust).

Changing the way Rage functions now, is like bending over and rape the units that NEEDS this rule to play their role, specially Zerkers, since they only have 1 A on their profil like any grunt.

Either way you make Rage like some kind of reroll( reroll 1's to hit& to wound) and you modify zerkers base A to two.

or you don't touch it.

the USR that should be changed is Furious Charge and give the +1Init back, never understood why they did modify this...

The consolidation is a good thing, it brings some balance for armies that heavely relies on assault units.

But i don't like the Overwatch again thing, i mean that would make like 3 opportunities per turn to shoot at one unit...

To keep it balanced then just count the consolidation like a disordered charge.

Also add disordered charges from vehicles that remained stationary, this allows assaulting from normal vehicles but without all the buffs

Ah yeah, we actually played our game with standard-Rage 'Zerkers. We are not changing Rage haha.


Disordered Charge instead of additional overwatch could be interesting. I'll have to play both.

I haven't yet gotten to vehicle rules yet, but I do like your suggestion.

I personnaly don't like the fact that if you do anything beside breathing you loose half your special rules, for wich you've paid a hefty points price...

If a unit should assault after coming out a vehicle that isn't open-topped or assault vehicle, they either should count as assaulting through a terrain or/and the vehicle count as open-topped if it takes any damage in the next turn( because the doors are open, and makes it easier to shoot the inside).
