Literally just made these for completion purposes, as there are no Devastator equivilents currently represented in the First Company Units

Elites (also added to First Company Task Force Formation)
Rearguard Veteran Squad 95pts.
Composition; 4 Veterans/1 Veteran Sergeant

Wargear
Bolt Pistol
Boltgun
Frag Grenades
Krak Grenades
Signum (Veteran Sergeant Only)

Special Rules
And They Shall Know No Fear
Chapter Tactics
Combat Tactics

Any friendly unit which targets the same enemy unit in the same shooting phase may remove a counter to gain one of the following rules for that shooting phase: Tank Hunters, Monster Hunters, Ignore Cover, Skyfire. Only one special rule may be chosen at a time, and all counters are removed at the end of the shooting phase.

Options
May include up to 5 additional Veterans (19ppm)
The squad may take Special Issue Ammunition (5ppm)
Any model may take a weapon from the Heavy Weapons list
The Veteran Sergeant may exchange his bolter for a weapon from the Melee Weapons or Ranged Weapons lists
The Veteran Sergeant may take one of the following
Melta Bombs 5pts
Omniscope 10pts
Grav-Amp 20pts
The Squad may take an Armorium Cherub 10pts
The Squad may select a Rhino, Razorback or Drop Pod as a Dedicated Transport

Rearguard Veterans are members of the Chapter who's preference for overwhelmimg firepower prevents their entry into Sternguard squads, lacking the tactical expertise and flexibility. However, their experience and skills with the heaviest firepower is too great to waste in the Battle Companies. Normally these marines will be split up as Veteran Sergeants in the Chapter's Devastator Squads, where their experience lends the greatest benefit, but occassionally they are deployed as squads toting up to 5 of the Chapter's largest weapons. Such a squad can hold back entire armies single handedly. On Helsing, Squad Pollis of the Imperial Fist's First Company held back the Traitor Titan Legions for a day and a night and were accredited with no less than 9 Titan kills, including the Reaver Titan " Regina Morte "as well as crippling the enemy war effort significantly through their delaying actions. Each member of the squad was post-humourously awarded the Imperial Laurel following the battle.

Elites (First Company Task Force Option)
Terminator Devastator Squad 175
Composition; 4 Terminator/1 Terminator Sergeant
Wargear
Terminator Armour
Power Sword
Stormbolter

Special Rules
ATSKNF

May include 5 additional Terminators (35ppm)
Any model may replace his Power Weapon with a Chainfist (15ppm)
Up to 4 models may choose one of the following options

- Take a Cyclone Missile Launcher (25ppm)
The Terminator Sergeant may replace his Power Sword with a permitted option from the Terminator weapons list.
The squad may take a Land Raider, Land Raider Crusader or Land Raider Redeemer as a Dedicated Transport

Terminator Devastator Squads sport numerous heavy weapons, and are deployed when overwhelming firepower just isn't enough. Terminator Devastators sport up to four heavy weapons and strike right in the heart of enemy, delivering utter annihilation to their foes with cold indifference. The heavy exoskeleton of their armour allows them to advance on the enemy as their unleash their incredible firepower on the enemy ranks.

I think the Terminators need a bit of toning down, otherwise what's the point of taking regular Termies?

The Devestators are interesting, and I like the idea, but they need some work. As they stand there's nothing of any note that makes them stand apart from regular Devastators besides having more than 4 heavy weapons. They need a unique rule, something to make them more interesting.

Here's a suggestion.

Cluster Fire: Every time a Rearguard Veteran Squad targets an enemy unit, place a counter by the target.

Represents the Rearguard Veterans "marking" enemy squads for their allies.

Well, the Termies don't have AP2 melee, and they need Chainfists to be above str 4, which puts them at around 60pts more expensive than a base Terminator Squad, and 40pts of one with the same options. I envision Terminators moving more into a tactical role between Hammernators, maybe targeting TEQ and MANz type units or walkers, with the Devastator Termies being your pure shooty Termies, but vulnerable to 2+ save units up close like TEQ.

I like your suggestion for the rearguard as well, something I never thought of. I just said " let's pure 10 Grav-Cannon veterans on the field but make them super expensive." I did give them Split Fire though, as I figured they would have a similar skill as Long Fangs (who are pretty much what Rearguard, Dev Vets).

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Well, Dev Termies have been around as an idea since as long as I can remember. Today I was cooking dinner, stirring my curry and reading dakka and thought "feth it" and just made them.
