The trap was pretty intense! Such beautiful ships destroyed.
As was Silvers little swim (even though we know how he ends up). Watching people drown in film is always unsettling to me.
The introduction of a new character for the British faction, the governors second in command, bodes well for some brutality to come. He's also Toby Stephens(Captain Flint) brother in real life! I'd wager they square off at some point.
Nassau's "council" seems to be dividing. I think Max will switch back to favoring/helping the Pirate faction. I don't think she gets a happy ending at seasons end, regardless.
But then, with Silvers absence following the ambush, the Pirates seems pretty divided as well. Billy Bones has become more assertive, and without Silver's legend that he helped build, he seemed prepared to challenge Flint. Then the leader of the slaves threw them both a curveball.
And lastly, there is Blackbeard, about to wage a one ship war of vengeance over the death of Charles Vane!

]keelhauling is now easily in my top 5 ways that I don't want to die. The sound alone was brutal enough, then they showed it happening underwater... Holy feth. I thought Blackbeard was going to survive the shot to the head though! Tough bastard.
The dynamic between Billy and Flint is going to be very very interesting from here on out. Maybe with Silver back amongst the Pirates, they'll not come to blows again. Speaking of which, how satisfying was it when Billy yelled "Fire!" during the standoff with Flint? Loved it. Been a long time coming.
I thought Max was gonna get killed this episode, instead it was the Mayors second in command. I didn't expect him to die so soon, maybe next episode, one of the ladies will finally get killed. This is all partly their fault.
So the Pirates have taken Nassau, but their strongest ally is dead, and his crew captured, with Eleanor and some troops in the fort and the mayor returning victorious.

They've landed on Skeleton Island with the treasure, after Flint decides that he's lost faith in Silvers decision making. Everything is lining up for the historical pirates\figures to meet their various fates, and of course the pirates from Treasure Island! Its been a fun ride and I'm kind of dreading the last two episodes.

Stunning series - this is really great stuff - I thought they were going to get caught up in the revolution nonsense but this has been great story telling with fantastic characters.
Even if they killed my fav character two episodes ago :(
Pacing is very good - I wish the Walking Dead would learn from it

It seemed like a Disney ending. Everyone, minus Billy and Rogers, got a happy ending, with only the latter deserving their fate. I was expecting something a bit darker. At the least give us a summary of how the historical figures all ended up.

I was expecting Silver to lose a hand. It's been awhile since I've seen/read much ant Treasure Island stuff but the one I most remember is the Disney animated in space version where he had a false hand.
The book on pirates that was brought out (and a friend has a recent copy of) at that time and caused a craze for them.

It was a good enough end to a very good series I thought. A little bit Disney but then again, you can't begrudge some of the characters at least, getting a happy ending of sorts, although history proved it to be fairly short lived for Calico Jack anyway.
The final couple of episodes were spoiled a little by dint of the fact that one knew what the characters' ultimate fate was due to Treasure Island (so we knew Billy Bones survived and was deathly afraid of one-legged seamen for good reason, for example) but that is always a possibility when you expand upon fiction; you are still somewhat bound by canon.

Yep, suprised it never got the buzz it deserved. I guess being on Starz limited its viewership numbers.
I'm pretty excited to go back and watch this series. Also, I'm going to be on the lookout for all the actors from this series from here on out. Always love seeing actors from The Wire, Homicide and all my other favorite shows spread out and get more diverse roles.
