Subject: What comic IP would you like to see adapted to live action that (probably) won't happen?
I was re-reading a thread, and Alpharius referenced Moon Knight. I never read the comics but I have seen him in cameos and I always thought Moon Knight was pretty cool, but too niche to ever be in live-action.
What are the other characters you'd like to see on either a show, or a movie, that are unlikely to happen?
For me:
Taskmaster
Why it would be awesome: Taskmaster is an amazing character. His shtick is that he has "photographic reflexes" - ie, if he sees someone do something, he can replicate it perfectly (within human limits). He watches Daredevil dodge, he can do it perfectly, he watches Hawkeye shoot arrows, he's as good a marksman as Hawkeye. There are two neat things about him: one, his ability comes at a cost: he can't remember anything about his life past a certain point. Every time he learns something new, he loses an old memory. The other cool thing about him is he decided that super-villainy is actually a pretty bad racket, and where the real money is, is training up mooks for said super-villainy. I think that's pretty neat, since he's got a whole amoral, antihero thing that lets him be played pretty flexibly.
Why it won't happen: IP shenanigans. I think it's possible Taskmaster actually COULD appear... likely in some future Deadpool movie, eventually. But he really won't be the same without the cast of characters he needs to play off off, ie some non-Xmen superheroes and villains.

it would be madness but oh what glorious madness it would be
The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Spider-Man 2099, as much for the setting and supporting characters as for the hero himself.
I also want to see an X-Men film dealing with Genosha. Yes, the South African Apartheid angle has been played out for decades, but I can't help feeling like an isolationist nation built on the labor of an oppressed minority is somehow going to resonate today. But that's likely also why it will never be made.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I had never heard of taskmaster before, but now I really want to know more about him. Sounds almost like a character out of Soon I Will Be Invincible.

Usagi Yojimbo would be interesting but I would really like to see some early 2000AD strips apart from Dredd. My top three would be Ro-Busters, the VCs and Robo Hunter and from the later stories, Devlin Waugh.

I would love for Taskmaster to show up in a Marvel movie or series. Hell for a while I was convinced that they would make Grant Ward into Taskmaster on Agents of Shield, it just seemed a good route to have gone down for him rather than well what they did do. I wouldnt want him in one of the main stream movies because he'd just suffer the fate of all MCU Villains, except Vulture and Zemo, and be killed off. Probably in the first 15 minutes like Crossbones, or killed off screen like Strucker. They could probably fit him in one of the Netflix shows training thugs for Kingpin.
A character I would like to see live action would be Stephanie Brown, I think she'd be a good live action Batgirl, particularly in the current movieverse where Bruce is older and Babs would likely have already been crippled. Hell make the case one that involves a Villain they both fought and you could show two Batgirls.
Also, I would like someone to take another crack at The Shadow. Personally I've always liked the '94 movie, and it seems like the character is beginning to make a come back in the comic world.

Huh, strange, I never considered The Shadow as a comic book character. Probably because it's the old radio shows I listen to on SiriusXM that form my knowledge of The Shadow rather than any comic books or the original pulps stories. The Shadow, however, would be uniquely problematic in the modern world where his power to cloud men's minds wouldn't work so well with all of the modern video technology.
Don't get me wrong, I would love for a bit of old-school 40s noir to come back. I'd love to see some modern Phillip Marlowe, Sam Spade, Johnny Dollar, Richard Diamond, Boston Blackie, etc.

I see where you are coming from, for the most part my exposure was just the film and the odd story here and there. I was only informed recently that he had a new series of comics, The Shadow Year One, The Shadow and Batman, and The Shadow. I agree that his power to cloud men's minds could prove difficult in the modern era, but they could work it into doing something to haze out or blurr images.
But bringing things back in the Noir style would be great.

... but I would also be happy with some good X-Men movies.
I liked the early Slaine stuff but it did become horribly preachy.

Would also really like to see Gaiman's the Sandman, but it's too weird to catch into movie form I think.
problem is Fables sort of already happened
Sandman could work as a TV show, maybe 8-10 episodes per arc/book, American Horror has proved a varying splashes of weird with mild overlap can work
Are you thinking "One upon a time" or "American Gods"? Fables Secret Agent Cinderella would probably work well enough on her own - but I am bias!

Mostly Once, another of those odd converging coincidences, although like you say the Cindy as Fable Lady-Bond spin-offs were fun, and would make cracking Telltale 'games'

Totally, Global really deserves another go, even just one-shot stories linked by Ms Zero, Black Mirror did well enough that a sci-fi/tech slated Outer Limits type anthology show could do ok on Streaming
