Hi folks. I had an idea that maybe this could be a place people can post pictures of their scatter terrain.
It seems to me that it's an integral part of many tabletop wargamers' collections. Whether it's the old Assault on Black Reach crashed Aquilla pieces (I have two sets) or some carefully built hedges, trees and rocky outcrops, we all need a few items to scatter around the flatter more empty areas of our battlefield.
But the options and ideas out there must be as varied and individual as our armies themselves. So let's share our often less celebrated but none the less important scatter terrain and build up a library of examples and ideas to inspire our fellow dakkanauts.
I'll find a few pictures to start us off. These are some examples from over the years of tabletop scatter in the wild.
Some old GorkaMorka tank traps.
And barbed wire fences.
Because Necromunda is totally worth it I made some scatter terrain pieces, barricades and general ground cover mostly made from cheap kids toys and balsa wood. Toy Construction set barrels and barricades formed a large part of the set
WIP
The Barrels
The Broken Bricks
Pallet Stack
Road Block
Barricade
Construction Yard
That'll do for now, though I've plenty more to show. Please do go ahead and show us your own scatter terrain, whatever the theme, size, quality etc. I want to see what we're all working with here.

Very nice work. I need to do something similar - the Warhammer 40K Conquest partwork has come with a shed load of the battlefield accessories sprues so I have a load of containers and barrels that I need to artfully place together.
What do you use for the basing material?

Where. I also went a bit super critical for the new Necromunda.
Munitorum container "modded" with boiling water and a hammer
Plasma generator things
Floodlights built out of sprue
Tanks
Forklift sentinel
Container transport
Ruin
Palletised goods
Industrial heaters
Great fun

Some really great examples on show already folks. Love the idea of those sentinel loaders scattered around an industrial complex full of palleted goods.
The little trailer light stand is a beautiful piece too.
And the raised garden/fountain is great! I want me one of those.
I'm not too fussy about what I base on, I'll grab anything to hand, thin-ish plastic if possible, card on occasion but card will bend out of shape with wet glue drying on top, As will any too-thin plastic sheet.

Fountain was from Miniature Scenery, and is MDF It's rather tall so I used one layer from the fountain's wall and a wasteage cutout to form the garden bottom and edging. Works better to block LOS.

Not a great pic - and they're still WIP, but some of the resin blocks that Zarakynel shipped on plus some biker bases and some Army Painter razorwire make small, but decent enough barricades.

some great stuff folks. love those vending machines, insaniac.
and the park benches and planters are super!
Excom, those barricades are shaping up rightly.
here's another odd picture from my collection.
I made these standing stones maybe 20 years ago from actual stones covered in glue and sand. I glued in some thick wire for the graven magic runes. Only the wire's gone rusty over the years!
thanks everyone for keeping the scatter scene alive.

I made these bunkers in a couple hours total, spread across a few days. Needed quick fortifications for a particular scenario. I mostly followed TheTerrainTutor's foam bunkers video.

These might be considered a bit large for scatter terrain? MDF building kits from Kromlech's Orkenburg line.

Scatter terrain is always excellent. Even in games of 40K where some of it isn't necessary or used. Often it's the little bits which add to the pictures, and the overall aesthetic.
I have a system for terrain:
1) Big stuff
2) Secondary stuff
3) Scatter to taste

Some more finished bits.
More loose barrels
Craters
Woods
walls and orchard trees
Automatically Appended Next Post: Nice barricades Ecommunicatus, will have to steal that idea with my Victoria miniature spruces.
Like those standing stones Crowe, I think they'd fit well into any wargame!
Those bunkers are pretty awesome Hankovitch I watched that tutorial but haven't gotten around to making one yet!

Most of my finished terrain is from the LoER terrain contests, scatter included. I finished this small barrel barricade for LoER terrain contest #23 back in October 2017.
I've almost made a modular trench system, but I don't know if it counts as scatter terrain.

FWIW, I'm not sure you can legitimately call them barricades. Even with the razorwire, they're barely waist-height to a Cadian.
I'm thinking more 'Dangerous Terrain' than 'Cover'.

Sharing from my new Hive City. Most of these use "Propoganda posters" I found on the internet. The original creators deserve massive credit for ability, imagination, and humor.
A billboard recruiting for the Imperial Guard. Three posters in one. For scale it measures roughly 6" W by 5" tall. I made the bottles and cans on the base out of dowels.
Benches from one of the MDF sellers. I'm pretty happy with the rust on them (maybe too agressive on the orange but whatever.) They are in the church.
Another propaganda poster. The key is I made a bracket on the back that fits into the slots of the modular MDF walls etc. So it can be placed anywhere on the board at different levels/heights.
Again, all credit to the original artist. Also, NO credit to the Orc Boy who decided his propaganda was more important...(Photo sucks, camera sucks)
This one took zero effort but I think it is cool. A triangle poster stand (like advertised in front of a shop). This one done by Da' Orks. The back is another poster (uncle sam orc saying I want you for WAAAAHHGGG!!. Again, love the creative monds behind these posters, and something like this is super duper simple but adds to the board. A few of these and it's cover in a market zone.
This I can take credit on. My sewer system backed by one of the numerous air recirculation plants that would be an absolute need in a hive city. The sewer is scraps of pergo flooring with balsa wood gutters. The cans and bottles are dowels, it has a covering of water effect and is completely modular, and I have 2 t's, 6 straights (two different sizes) and three 90 degree turns as well as 3 "manhole" endings. The plant is tiny plastic shot cups. Got that idea from someone online as well.

Nice work Ex. Your humble guardsmen are really nice too.
While we're at it here's another few bits from my collection.
I originally made these as objective markers but they could easily be used as regular scatter. Lots of potential for explody special rules too.
And then there's this one.
This is my Necromunda water still. Good size for a bit of cover this.
I've also got a whole set of burned out trees like these. They were made by a friend for a tournament we ran about a lifetime ago.
Then behind those are a few bits of coal, cleaned off and drybrushed.
I've also been busy making little bits of walls.
Kinda just threw paint at them. Bit rough and ready.
A few more of those still to finish. And then there's these.
Straight up regular rocks on card bases. Still to flock and that'll de that. Plenty of scatter, or in my case hurdles for a Goblin Wolfrider steeplechase!
