It is easy enough to find a replacement for a single unit, but trying to build an army that way means you will have very different styles per unit. Has any one found some designers that have created replacements for an entire army range, say up to 6th editions army lists?

Posting mostly to follow. I'd like to supplement the things I get from BriteMinis with maybe more varied poses/more complete ranges.

'Highland miniatures' are closest Bretonnian like, though they list their scale at 32mm, while GW are 28 Heroic mm; I have asked around for side by side scale comparisons; so far nothing, but one ebay seller respond with 'shortly'. Once I seen it I can give the community more feedback.
I had previously bought GZ(gamezone) dark elves, though the sculpts are amazing compare to GW, they're slightly bigger, like all GW dark elves are standard malnurished 5'10-6' dudes, and GZ elves are 6'6+ baskeball players.
I really like the 100 yr war of the roses by 'perry miniatures', their scale is slightly smaller by comparison with GW, as they're listed as 28 mm true historical, so their guys are a bit skinny in comparison.

Perry, Warlord, Northstar, Victrix, Fireforge, Gripping Beast, and Wargames Atlantic are all worth a look for their historical ranges. They're only really useful for human armies, but they have an incredible variety, are incredibly cheap by comparison to GW stuff (the Pike and Shotte starters are around $130 for ~150 models), and are often closer in scale and tone between manufacturers than people making fantasy ranges, plus if you want to do a non-standard human army you can throw, say, a Perry Sengoku Japanese army down as a Nippon-themed Empire army.
Mantic's probably your best bet for a wide range of plastic minis that replicate whole armies all at once. They aren't perfect 1:1 and I don't particularly like their elves, but they do pretty complete ranges for Bretonnia (Basileans), Dwarves/Chaos Dwarves (Dwarves/Abyssal Dwarves), Daemons (Forces of the Abyss), Tomb Kings (Empire of Dust), Orcs and Goblins (Orcs. And goblins.), Ogres (Ogres), Skaven (Ratkin), Wood Elves (Elves), and Vampire Counts (Undead).

Ilhadiel on Patreon does some very GW-esque High and Dark Elves, and you get access to the entire catalogue for as long as you're subscribed. They're working on Dark Elves now, but have covered pretty much every High Elf unit from 8th ed WFB as multi-part 'kits' (also great for kitbashing). Not the most detailed or dynamic sculpts, but great ic you're after an army with a comsistent style.

Last Sword Miniatures - working on several at once including lizardmen, high elves and a human faction (I forget as I only back for the lizards).
Lost Kingdom Miniatures - have done a bretonnia and lizardmen full armies and are working on several others.
Claybeast Creation - working on several and has done some lizardmen and vampire stuff
All three produce really high quality designs. Lost Kingdom are your best if the two armies they've done in full are what you're after, the others are ongoing projects. Each has their own style and take on things and each one runs a patreon and a website/my mini factory store so they are all three easy to find. Personally I'm slowly gathering up stls for a lizardman force which is going to be some hybrid mix of different designers - which kind of works for lizardmen as they've a lot of sub-groups and different species of lizard within their ranks.

I am with you, Overread - I can say the LKM Mercia (Brets) are some of the most amazing sculpts for printing - truly amazing - with models for every unit type. My only comment would be all the foot troop sculpts seem to have their legs set to be moving/running, whereas I would like the option of some in a sturdy defensive stance.
Brets were my first army with WHFB and still my favorite. I love the medieval style, but truly GW going the way of protecting full IP, the Brets just could not be protected as they were all stolen from Arthurian legends, so you will not be getting any new stuff except the weird AOS mess.

Monstrous Encounters does absolutely amazing Heroquest and Middlehammer style nostalgia miniatures. Their skeleton horsemen are what pushed me over the edge into buying a resin printer, and I was a patreon backer before the box arrive at my doorstep.

Avatars of War have some great Orc and Goblin characters, they're not the easiest ro support and print but well worth the effort.

'Fallen Beast' (beastmen) are hitting their second wave next month, exciting times! First wave was ungors + shaman ( IIRC) + jabberwock, now we're getting gors + chieftain + ??? I own most of the lizard line as well, CBC sort of put aside the old Aztec theme to make good on the star-lizards theme that GW has done nothing with besides write some fluff for in the AOS Seraphon books The vamps I'm pretty sure are all Flesheater Court (ghouls + bat monsters) stuff, which is cool but not as useful for a full WHFB Undead army, though could supplement for sure.

I can't tell you how much this thread is essentially paydirt for me. Everything that I used to collect save one army is OOP from GW, and this is putting me over the edge on getting a Resin Printer.

Last sword just finished a kickstarter for the 9th age wood elves Their team does amazing work.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lastsword/elven-lords-the-tree-kin/description
On a side note, I have noticed lizardmen need to be scaled down to 80%-87% or they don't line up in base to base very well.
keep the recommendation coming
Still looking for Orc and Goblins.

Yes, EmanG is just about the best sculptor out there that is SO great to make is models available for free. I've seen many paid models and patreons that look miserable compared to his great sculpts. I have printed many of his pieces - so incredibly detailed and dynamic.

mmmm. No. these are not sculpted by him. The reason theyre free is hes actually ripping them from the game files of Total War Warhammer 2.

It still takes some work and know-how to convert game files for printing. I'm having a hell of a time doing similar for a few things from Conan Exiles, so I'll attest to that.

Right, I'm mostly responding to the 'patreons look bad compared to his sculpts' bit - because those models he's using were made by a whole team of professional digital artists for a AAA video game.

Bayonet & Ricochet has Lancers in the works But they're less crusade era and more towards the 15th to 17th century styes. Meaning no bucket heads. Although we don't rip off bertorina and aim for a unique look. Are miniatures are also much much better than the bertorina sculpts. They won't be ready for launch however until worldwide shipping issues stops, and Frozen finally ships that printer. Sometime in the next month or two I hope. Honestly, it sucks our entire production is halted because of shipping issues.

Weird that it's free, kind of a kick in the face for the rest of us sculptors really. We can't compete with free.

ive found some fun chaos stuff but been looking so much for brettonians as well but nothing everything seems 'truescale' but i like our abstract heroic scale.. but found nothing.
here is the guy with some fun chaos warrior-ish infantry
https://www.myminifactory.com/users/AdamantArsenal
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/adamantarsenal/the-valiant-and-the-vile
this guy has 80s/early 90s style dwarves, a complete line more or less
https://www.myminifactory.com/users/WarpMiniatures?show=objects
for more modernish dwarves, OPR and Kyoushuneko Miniatures (they made the dwarf OPR files)
https://www.myminifactory.com/users/kyoushuneko
https://www.myminifactory.com/users/onepagerules
but for my standard humans and bretonnia i am thinking just going to settle with fireforge , which is fine but of course rather 3d print for the cost factor

One of my favourite creators is Highlands Miniatures, https://www.patreon.com/highlands_miniatures/posts
They do some great Empire, Bretonia, and Undead armies. They're not just single figures, but they tend to release whole regiments which I love, and they are branching out into other army types as well.
I've done a couple of videos on them over on my channel which show what they look like in real life if that helps! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0ZOrQdQc1fn_0Jm1N_FhrQ/
