Well alrighty then.

Saw a bit of an interview with Keaton and he said it was the most fun he (and also Burton) had had in years shooting it. Essentially he said it was nice to have full sets, practical effects, and almost no green screen nothingness.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

So, whose funeral is that? Charles?

I’m really looking forward to this, love the original and really hoping that they do a good job. Have to say, just that moment when she sees Beetlejuice at the end, Winona Ryder’s look is pure Lydia. If she’s managed to recapture that character that’s a good sign.

Charles is the best guess since his wife/daughter/granddaughter are all attending and there is no way Jeffrey Jones was going to be in the film.

He could have been in The Flash, though. Wouldn’t have hurt it any more.

Rewatching the trailer, his face is on the gravestone.

Of course, it’s Beetlejuice, so someone being dead doesn’t mean they aren’t in the film…

No, but the child porn convictions do.

They got Dafoe in this one....

Given the cast this one's looking like a pretty sure bet. Legit hopes for it.

Bloody hell, I was not aware of that.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

Aaaaaaaaaaaanyways.

Charles isn’t gonna feature.

But Keaton is looking the part, as is Lydia. And those two are pretty much the driving gears, yes?

Also I’ve seen the Musical, which was fab. Even if I did blub like a bairn to Dead Mom.

I was never the biggest fan of beetlejuice so wasn’t particularly interested when they announced the sequel. But when I realised that neither Alec Baldwin nor Geena Davis were returning I lost all interest.

I hope people enjoy it but I doubt I’ll see it. Maybe once it comes to streaming if there’s nothing else on I might give it a shot.

I have to admit that "I only watch Beetlejuice for Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis" isn't a take you hear that often. I have to imagine at some point their characters were able to move on to the afterlife. If they were still trapped here that would be kind of sad.

For me it’s not so much that I only watch beetlejuice for Baldwin and Davis, but rather of the characters in the original, they are the ones I’d be most interested in catching up with 40-50 years later. Also, I’m a big fan of Alec Baldwin in 30 Rock and would be interested in seeing him in a more comedic role in beetlejuice 2 rather than the straight man from the original.

It isn't an attack or mockery just that it isn't what you normally see when people discuss Beetlejuice. I'm currently re-watching 30 Rock a few episodes a night to wind down in the evening so I understand.

Struggling about in Asmos territory.

Man this movie is all over the place with me..

Here's a minimum-spoiler (nothing specific to the main plot) take from me..
Spoiler:

Generally it stuck somewhat well to the old movie but who even remembered the family as much? I really had to squint and think hard on who was who again..

The jokes often fell flat, there were some good quality-written moments in the movie but they could've been better if they had not been dirtied with bad cgi (and I do not mean the stop motion segments, that was awesome).

Also, what happened with the shrunken head people running into the real world? Never heard from again..
And all the people soul suckered away were also just forgotten about, especially bob who was pretty much the most memorable.

All in all, for the sake of nostalgia its a nice movie, but if you are not familiar with the original I think this movie will be much more confusing, another problem is that the old movie has a much better plot and this one is rather generic. If I had to rate it I'd give it a 6/10.

"Why would i be lying for Wechhudrs sake man.., i do not write fiction!"

"Wherever you go...I'll be right here waiting for you!"

Saw it the other day and its a solid sequel that despite being about 35 years apart, it feels like one that was made in 1990. It does follow on from the first film, but to be honest the last time I saw Bettlejuice was on TV back in the early 90s and I still felt right at home, even if I didn't remember the odd detail. I think newcomers would be lost unless they cling to Jenna Ortega's character, and still better off seeing the 1988 film before hand.

Even if it might have been clever computer animation, it was a warm feeling to see stop-motion vfx back on the big screen.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

It was.... decent. I've seen far worse movies in the theater. Recently, even.

Okay, damning with faint praise there. It's better than that.

It's a serviceable sequel. Not great, but good. It does fall down in several key places. The biggest one is that the script is a bit bloated. Too many main characters, too many things going on, and sometimes going on for several minutes after it ceased being entertaining. The original movie was very tightly written. Everyone had an indispensable part to play, and everything happened for a reason relevant to the story at hand. This movie... not so much.

If you loved the original, you will either like this as a decent sequel, or hate it as a substandard money-grab. I don't expect many people will LOVE it, in the same way people love the original. It's just not THAT great a film.

CHAOS! PANIC! DISORDER!
My job here is done.

I saw it and had a really good time. It was a lot of fun. Everyone seemed to be having a good time making it.

The complaints about too many plots are valid. But it was kind of done in a wacky way that I thought left room for the hijinks and some pretty fun comedic beats..

The movie goes out of it's way to never show the original dad on screen because the actor who played him is a real life pedophile and I though the many ways in which they handled that were hilarious.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.
