Hakanor's Reavers are a Chaos Space Marine warband mentioned in the 4th Edition Codex: Chaos Space Marines. They are described as being led by Daemon Prince Hakanor, and having "armor that burns with a magical heat, causing it to crack and reform like lava". Daemon Prince Hakanor was once Chapter Master Prometian, and further details about the warband are unknown, including what original Chapter the Reavers were descended from. Due to their close associations with fire, it is not unreasonable to tentatively link the Reavers (even distantly) to the Salamanders Chapter; perhaps the Reavers were once a successor Chapter, tracing their lineage back to the Salamanders. Of course, Imperial records being what they are, not much is known about the Reavers or their ancestry. Inquisitor Cole of the Ordo Hereticus has put forth a theory that places the Flame Falcons as the Chapter that later became Hakanor's Reavers, and though his theory does contain a great deal of merit and factual evidence, speculation continues to run rampant. It is unknown which particular Chaos God these warriors seek patronage from, if any, as Cult warriors have been observed within the warband, all of them mysteriously displaying a single pauldron dominated by the odd lava-like pattern and heat of the primary warband.
This particular group of Renegade Astartes is led by one of Daemon Prince Hakanor's direct subordinates, a former member of his Chapter's Council. Once, the man was Epistolary Ukobach, a Librarian more commonly attached to the 8th Company. A man who once enjoyed flight had his wish of flying forever granted, as the whims of Chaos saw fit to bestow upon Ukobach a pair of wings. As Daemon Prince Hakanor cannot be everywhere, he entrusted stewardship of the smaller warbands to many of his subordinates, among them Ukobach. Ukobach's group operates primarily along the Eastern Fringe, where it has clashed with the Tau Empire and Imperium of Man on multiple occasions. The Reavers in this group are known for their speed, lending credence to speculation that this particular band is all that remains of the Assault Company of the Flame Falcons. Utilizing Bikers, Jump Packs, and Rhinos, the ferocity and speed of assaults conducted by this splinter Warband are not to be underestimated. Vindicator Siege Tanks are effective in blasting apart enemy lines and creating gaps through which the quick and nimble Reavers can then exploit, tactics that the Reavers have utilized many times against Imperial Guard and Tau forces.
These particular Chaos Space Marines exhibit the same mutations that plague the rest of their fellow Reavers, including armor that reforms quickly, nullifying injuries that would incapacitate a normal Space Marine. Warriors who have been felled can return to battle within hours, even when hit by weapons such as Plasma Guns and Lascannons. Nothing short of Demolisher shells and larger ordinance can truly fell a member of the Hakanor's Reavers warband, though they can be incapacitated for a time while their armor reforms. It is unknown what remains of the man inside the armor.

Sorcerer Ukobach. Ukobach is known to raise billowing walls of flame behind his enemies, herding them in order to expedite their doom. (crunch-wise, he's a Sorcerer with the Mark of Slannesh with Lash of Submission)

Why I Started This Army
I began a Reavers army after seeing their very brief entry in the Chaos Space Marine Codex. I was intrigued by the color scheme and wanted to test my painting abilities, so when a friend gave me some REALLY old CSM minis in bad shape (covered in hot glue, no less!), I knew I had a challenge. It took me nearly two months to get these minis into presentable shape, to even consider painting them, but it was worth it. I consider this army one of the best ones I've ever done. I sold this army in late 2011, as I was beginning to apply to law school and didn't think I had much time left to play Warhammer before I entered the real world.
