With a flourishing playerbase I would like to formally start a petition/request for an Infinity Sub-Forum. Infinity has the vast majority of threads active in the Skirmish Category and also has extensive threads in the DCM and News areas. A simple 3 thread setup similar to Warmachine would be optimal and could provide a location for Infinity specific stickies. Please respond to this thread with your thoughts of why or why not, so the Mod/Admin team can weigh the choice.

Thanks for your time,
BlueDagger

I'd be 100% for this.

Infinity seems to really be picking up steam, worldwide.

It is a great game with a great range of miniatures, and the parent company, Corvus Belli, is one of the most 'community friendly' companies you're likely to find in this hobby.

They really 'do things right'.

Plus, for all the reasons BlueDagger mentioned.

Great idea, would mean I wouldn't have to split so much time between forums!

I think Dakka Dakka could be home to a nice worldwide Infinity Community that wouldn't be quite as potentially intimidating as the 'official' Infinity forum can be at times...

I want this to happen.
I think an infinity Subforum could make the Dakka Dakka INFINITY growing community even bigger.

I will help any new player with their questions as many other veteran Infinity players do every day.

Agreed, for the reasons already given. It's definitely gaining popularity.

Absolutely, think it's a great idea!

Over on Warseer there is a great little Mantic community. The reason? They have their own sub-forum.

There are a fair few players posting here, and I think perhaps Infinity is one of those games that needs a bit more forum chat than others. It is a big learning curve to play (hell, even to paint the minis) so the closer the community the better.

So, I would definitely be all for this!

Wow this is taken off. I'm all for it, I even being posting more in Infinity related threads then any other the past few months.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

I definately wouldn't object to an Infinity Subforum.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

I agree!

But so long as it's not gonna be a huge strain for Legoburner, that is.

I support this petition.

INFINITY is a game that has come to stay here, a solid product that offers:

-Extense miniatures range with regular releases. CB doesn't fail to deliver each month between 4-6 new releases featuring high quality sculpts for what many people consider the best Sci Fi range out in the market.
-Refreshing game mechanics, 7 factions, 13 subfactions, adapt your list to your prefered game style, it's not about your list but your tactics.
-Outstanding support to the player: All the rules, army lists, templates and markers are available to download as free PDFs at the website. Also a Wiki, FAQs and a free profesionally made Army Builder.
-It has gained enough reputation that many companies like Micro Arts Studio and Battlefoam are starting to collaborate with them offering support products for the game.
-Multilanguage support: English, Spanish, French, Deutsch, ...

To sum up, INFINITY is a very well stablished product with an ever growing worldwide playerbase. And the upcoming release of the scenario/campaign expansion book in the next months and the announced presence of CB at this year's Gencon is gonna have the effect to skyrocket the number of new initiates to the game in the US. Therefore we can predict many dozens of new posts concerning Infinity popping in the next months, also there's currently a high activity in this forum. So in order to keep things with order, new subsections are a need, at least one for List posting, another for rules question and another for general discussion and news. That's why it's about time Infinity gets its own subforum.

Add my virtual signature to this petition! The more people that get exposed to Infinity the better!

Well, while I'm a little miffed that FoW still hasn't gotten a subforum yet, I'll gladly support this!

I support this action.

Slarg's "So what is infinity?" thread has gotten more posts in it than the entire Campaigns subforum has gotten in its lifetime.

I think you're confusing views and posts The Campaign forum has around 1600 posts, while that thread has gotten over 4000 views and ~180 posts.

Still though, infinity does seem to be the most popular game in that sub forum.

Hah. I was actually mixing up posts and threads.
I just wanted to say something marginally relevant aside from a simple vote.

Here's my simple vote towards this action sans misinformation.

Add me into the club too, a sub forum for Infinity would be great. I hate trawling around different forums to find bits n bobs out!

I support this petition too.

I've been in "read only" in the forums until now. I personally don't like any plastic at all, right now i only paint, and most of my work is from Infinity.

Thank you.

I agree - Infinity has a highly visible presence in the skirmish forum, and its news thread is always near the top of the N&R forum. I think that it is unlikely to whimper and die anytime soon, and so is worth supporting with its own subforum.

It is not quite time yet. As mentioned in the FoW forum request area, I monitor traffic levels consistently, and warmachine only qualified for its own forum fairly recently. FoW will probably be next, but still does not have the critical mass it needs to support it. Infinity is still a ways off. We would just add a few forums for each major/minor game out there if we could, but the structure of the site means that there is quite a bit of overhead (in terms of memory and CPU time) in doing so, so we tend to to err on the side of caution and wait until things are big enough to justify the extra efforts on our part to maintain it.

Check out our new, fully plastic tabletop wargame - Maelstrom's Edge, made by Dakka!
