Hello All, I am New to the 40k world and have only 20-30 Fantasy Peices under my belt so i am still new to all of this. I have decided to start a 40k Ork army and will be doing this blog to keep myself on track as well as to recive some C&C from all the dakka members that have inspired me so far. I have in the last week moved to a new country (following my wifes carrer) so am getting most of my supplies via, internet and ebay. However i did a little shopping while in the US and brought some things with me to use during my down time until our stuff arrives. To start i purchased a LARGE bits sale on ebay and came away with some nice stuff. (please see the trade section for items i am getting rid of) My first Orky item is actually also my first conversion EVER... SM bike to Ork Trike, below are some wip pics. my greenstuff and platicard/tubes arrived today so i will get to the next stage in the next day or two (i am slow). not much in the way of dakka so far but that will change now that i am getting more of my supplies. So here we go... I started with an SM bike and cut it into 3 peices new front forks to give it a raked look then added some tanks (from the trukk sprue i think) to serve as nitro or some other orky fuel additive and here are the peices set up in the position i think they will be in when done.(peice on bottom is just to hold them at the angle... Now to use some plasticard and greenstuff (first time touching the stuff) to make the engine and seat line up witht he rear end, add a drive train to the rear wheels and maybe a grot on the back with the dakka gun. What you all think sofar?

Got a little more done on the trike, Added the drive train and started to flesh out the exhast connection.
now to go back with some plasticard and green stuff to work on the seat and clean up the exhast.
I got a little bored so i opend up my insta mold to play with it and made my first molds, a resin base and the guages from the side of a Stormboys Tank
The Guages came out nice, the base is ok but i think i can work with it for some boyz
Then i decided to add the guages to the tank on my trike, not horrible for my first attempt at GS but could use some Tips from you guys. Once it drys imma use some liguid GS to clean up the edges and blend it into the tank a little more.
So while that was dryinging i grabbed some more bits and started mocking up a Sidecar for my next bike conversion, the car will hold the bikes Dakka gun which is being converted from a Chaos (i think) Gun, much more orky dakka to come on this...
Gonna add some barrel length to the gun, remove the chaos simble and add some orky bits to make it right for the army, gotta do something with the sides, probly just some plates and rivits but C&C Welcomed!!! What yall think so far??

Some More Work on the Trike and Side car, More GS'ing, Harder then it looks i must say. Just some cleaning up on the exhaust to go for the trike and then the wheel well and attachment for the side car, maybe a little seam/patchwork with some GS on the Side car but nothing major.
Also, did some resto work on some 2nd ed boyz, they had been badly converted so i had to use some spare bits to gettum bak ta bein shootie and stabie
also messed with the horns a little to make um ruff and batle torn
Then i started the prelim mock up of a looted wagon with spare bits, you can see the basic idea taking shape here, gotta get some wheels for the back and make a place for 12 boyz to ride.
And lastly i stole this from my kiddo (she got the candy that was inside... and it will be my Stompa after much work but it makes a great starting spot, i think imma keep the hat and shoes just ork um up. think the ball cap will add so LOL to the project.

I think for 20-30 Fantasy pieces you are amazingly skilled and incredibly imaginative. I'm not an Ork player anymore but was for a long time and I always have respect/ appreciation for good modeling. You are working on some great projects and I am very much looking forward to what you create. Subbed and expect to be back here frequently.

Thanks much, My only experience prior to this blog is the skaven side of the Fantasy starter set and 2 of the elvrs, All stock, no conversions. i will post the pics of those when my stuff arrives in my new home. I hope to have the trike and side care finished tommorow witht he nob biker seated. i wont be adding paint for a few weeks though, again due to most of my stuff being in route still.

Waiting on the rider body to finish the trike up, cant mount the handlebars till i have the rider. Alos wondering if i should make it a warboss or nob... ive never played the game so not sure which would be better? my plan is to have around 9-12 bikers total.
so while i wait, i finished up a set of boyus based on the 2nd addition minis from my bits purchase, 12 total with one being a knob conversion with power claw, boss pole and jaw. others are only modded to repair the damage of someone elses conversion to fantasy.
What ya think?
Got a little work done on the looted wagon yesterday and have started collecting peices/formulating a plan for the stompa... Pictures soon. On the stompa i can't decided wether to leave tha banner and paint it up with WAAAAAGH!!! like some one else suggested or get rid of it and replace the arms with the buzzsaw and guns of a common stompa... leaning towards removing it but what ya think dakka?

It's awesome to see someone that hasn't fallen before the alter of GW size creep (or in this case LEAP) w/ the new plastic Orks and is still using 2nd Ed box set Goffs. Perhaps there is a lesson on there for me... I still have my original Ork army that is just RT and 2nd Ed models, nothing new has been added to it since '98-99 timeframe.
Really enjoying this thread.

When all is done i will have 2 transport units of 2nd addition and 2 of current, i like the fantasy feel to the 2nd addition but i do wish they were a little more detailed.

That's quite a mix of vehicles you have going on there!
Are you sure you haven't done this before? You're wayyyy too good at this to be a novice unless you are late-blooming modeling prodigy. More likely you're a modeling ringer planted on Dakka to sow chaos and disorder. I support your efforts completely.
Either way your work is awesome and I'm really enjoying this thread a lot. Excellent work all around! You have the vision necessary to see multiple vehicles converted into one, the selection of bits for weapons, etc (speaking of which, nice collection of plasticard, rods, etc.... very suspicious) and the ability to piece it all together with interesting execution.
Would be excited to see your vision of Chaos, or any kind of terrain. I'll wait patiently.

Some WIP pics of the stompa, started by laying it out with sharpie, exhaust will be multi stacks of tubing various sizes, the "brigde" is the front of an SM tank (i think) and plasticard, under that is the start of the "Jaw" that will also house the large "belly" gun, ive also started work on the gatlin gun and a ladder that will lead from the back door and catwalk up to the exhaust stacks, i made it wide enough for a standard base but i think thats 2 wide and i will make a new one that is a little narrower, im planning to have an opening hatch door on the back bottom where troops could load in as well as a defkopta landing pad as the 2nd shoulder pad. i can not decide if i want to cover the whole thing in plates like the GW stompa or leave it mostly as is with plates bolted on here and there.
After seeing the pics on here i think i will move the "jaw" down to where i originaly laid out the belly gun, i don't think it goes well with the bridge being so close.

Badass man! Definately love the updating of the old kits!
The Eggman Stompa is gonna be Epic!
However..I think you need to add more rivets!
