Right, so, as of late i've been all kinds of inspired towards slaaneshi stuff, been watching all sorts of drokked up films and such to fuel that fire, and flicking through the liber chaotica's and slaves of darkness.

I've always had a soft spot for slaaneshi stuff, as a concept it stirs my heart (and other things) the most.

On top of that i have a general dislike for the chaos model ranges until very recently, and how disparate they were from the artwork and the concepts behind chaos. As such, my previous chaos army, an Iron Warriors force, is very, very barely chaotic, and more a dark mirror of loyalists. Still lots of great crusade trappings, they're obviously Chaos and brutal, but they aren't that organic, twisted, perversion of Astartes which chaos is Supposed to be.

So, the very recent releases, coupled with possessed sprues and some modicum of converting talent bolstered by recent forays into my Savlar and such, assured me that with a bit of work i could make proper slaaneshi marines, in the concept i have for them, happen.

And Lo :

Lefty is my tester marine, he was mostly a proof of concept and a testbed for a couple of different ideas, i'm not as happy with him as i am with others, mostly as i didn't waste any raptor/whatnot parts on him, but he's passable. The other, obviously, very straightforward conversion of a DV chosen, but i like him.

More like it. From now, the majority will be in this vein, likely more GS work here and there mixed in.

I also managed to track down 40 Diaz Daemonettes i plan to keep a few of those for myself, mix them with converted newer plastics. On top of that i have some diaz seekers on the way, i'm looking for a RT Chaos Dread (Love that model.), and various other goodies, whenever further inspiration strikes.

Nae comments? I mean, i get it's not a major start post, but come on
I am curious on the consensus for the Helstrider head on the running marine, and the small slaaneshi shoulder on the jogging bolter marine, since those are to be recurring items

They look good. Have you been considering using colour theory when aplying your colours?

Also, do you plan on doing them as Emperor's Children in the traditional black with pink trims, or your own warband?

These are off to a really good start, you've definitely got a talent for kitbashing.

I've always thought those berserker legs with the leather straps were way moore slaaneshi looking than anything in the blood god's service ought to be...

Colour Theory is something i tend to follow, and always try to implement in everything i make, being that i make costumes and props too, however i feel the one place where it really DOESN'T work, is a slaaneshi force, haha. the point is contrast, offensively so, though i'm likely to tie it all together somewhat, i'm unlikely to overly follow what looks natural together, when it is not intended to look Natural.

As far as scheme, it's probably going to be erratic, varied from squad to squad. They're EC, definitely (though i may have a unit of Flawless Host in there, since i love the scheme), but i'm much more a fan of the old days and the pink primary, than the understated look it has now.

Pink plate, occasional black plate with dark purple detailing, Teal spot colour (Eyes, Plumes), black bondage leather, flayed skin, pale flesh.

Kvlt, Aye, the berzerker kit is ridiculously good for slaanesh when it comes to the torso's and legs! it's all chains and straps, seriously, haha. you can dump the arms and heads, but aye.

I'm probably gonna sit down with a bunch of heads, shoulderpads, chests and legs soon, and sculpt slaaneshi trims and extensions onto them to use later on, give myself a more varied bundle to kitbash from :p

Cheers for the comments!

Wow, long time no update. Soz.

Like, really long time.

I run a lot of projects at the same time, total hobby ADD, so some things get put on the backburner till i'm inspired for one thing or another.

Anyway, got the slaaneshi buzz up again, undercoated some dudes to have a dabble with painting soon, and built a few.

Apologies for some of the pictures apparently being taken with a potato, it's actually a decent camera but terrible light and i'm too lazy to rig up a lightbox

First up, sort-of-sergeant, don't even know, this is purely a modelling project and i'm of the opinion that dudes that've been around 10,000 years who worship the god of do-whatever-you-frack-you-want would probably not stick to standardised equipment. Treat it like a massive kill-team.

Second up, standard bolter boy, oddly popular with the daemonettes.

Third up, standard duelist-style EC, embodying less of the mutant lunatic surrealist wet dream and more of the twisted, brutal formerly-noble duelist concept,

Aaand a group pic,

I'm hoping to keep the slaaneshi fires burning long enough to make some more dudes up, plus get some painting done. Still have a RT chaos dread kicking about somewhere, so i'm looking forward to messing with that...

Oh, and, Soundtrack to the project,

Which is just the most slaaneshi song on earth.

Thanks!

@Moltar, checked out your stuff, sweet! yeah, similar ideas going on, good kitbashing.

@Silver, will defo do some paint soon, basically everybody's paintjob is going to be unique though so it'll be tricky to batch-paint, so i'm putting them off for now! still have a whole bunch of luna wolves to paint.

@Medium, cheers! i can rarely be arsed to sculpt anything, and i very rarely get around to painting anything (I'm passably good at it but it's not summat i enjoy as much as conversions.), so kitbashing is pretty much my jam!

Noise marines are an absolute definite, but i'm waiting somewhat to get ahold of some FW Kakaphoni and palatine blades to mess with, plus some of the new GW sternguard and tacs. Want a wider pallette of bitz to mess with!

Main thing is that i'm running out of standing/posed legs (I.E. not standard squatting chaos/old tactical legs), at least ones that aren't from running possessed or berzerkers (i don't really want absolutely everyone running), so i want to hold off a bit until i have some more to play with.

Sounds promising, will be keeping my eye out.

The Kakophoni kit has some amazing detail in it and the sonic blasters look divine.

Looking forward to more.

That's fine, I've got the feeling this project is more of a modeling driven thing, rather than creating an ideal armylist. Just curious to see what you'll do with it!

Update that didn't take over a year, huzzah!

Messed about with that dreadnought! I toyed with converting the actual dread, adding chains e.t.c, but decided against it since the thing's bloody gorgeous already. The base is enough i think.

It'll be good to see what you do with it. Is it not a little on the small size compared to the current Dread/Hellbrute?

Made in gb
Outraged Witness

Southampton, UK

Honestly not really, i lengthened the torso a little at the middle, but that's all, and it's roughly the same height as a standard plastic derpnought, though a bit thinner. It's actually bigger than the loyalist one is, weirdly. I had to add spacers and embiggen the hell out of that, and the chaos one's the same size as that Stock.

It's definitely smaller, but big enough to look 'right' especially considering the RT dread has more of a quake/doom mech-style thing going on than a boxy coffin made of lego.

Here's a size comparison pic, i've not got a derpnought in reach but this gives you a good idea.

So aye, it's still pretty angry-looking beside a marine

Seems the RT dread is a love or hate thing, some people i've shown it to are confused as hell or think it looks terrible, i love how biomechanical and generally, nasty, it is. Much more chaos than a derpnaught with spikes on it.

Everything looking great here, nice greenstuff work on those shoulders.

I like the Dread, though i'm not so sure about the weird pelvis thing it has going on. I'd probably be giving it a cut, if it was me (ouch) though I can understand if you choose not to - it looks suitably chaotic, to say the least.

Subbed!

Edit: Seems as though myself and Moltar had the same impression - ha!

Ha. well, @sparkadia, this IS slaanesh...

Colourwise, honestly i don't know, probably darker tones on that, purples with lighter swirls and designs and runes, with darker shades for the biomechanical ribbing?

It seems something that'd suit deeper purples and reds than the bright, crazy colours. Teal spot colour for the plasma and the eyes.

Honestly i have no idea though, i really have no set plan on the painting aside from teal as a unifying spot colour, so it might end up being fluorescent blue and pink. Depends what works when i sit down to work on it.

Er, Hi!

So this kind of went on the backburner for... Ever?

I've done a few little slaaneshi bits and pieces, but honestly all of my hobby time has been on other projects. Inquisitor scale thingies, heresy stuff, epic, fantasy chaos, full-size props, transformer repaints, all sorts.

Had the rather spontaneous urge to do some slaanesh, but annoyingly i have to wait until i have money to get a few choice new bits (Evil craft, spellcrow marine stuff) before i can keep kitbashing willy-nilly, so instead, i've focused on daemons!

Now, i've always been big on the idea of daemons being erratic and varied. Not, you know, an identical horde of dull, with a pair of defined categories of daemon for each god...

So, i'm going a little more different with my stuff. Design stuff Inspired somewhat by Silent hill, Del toro, BPRD/hellboy et cetera.

First, daemonettes. Like most people, i love the old Diaz ones, of which i have a few, but dislike the new plastics. No sensuality to them, the balance of it is all wrong, but there IS the brutal, BDSM twisted aesthetic to them.... So, i'm having varied daemonette squads. One of Diaz daemonettes with a few minor mods to represent that alluring, unsettling, uncanny-valley aspect, and one, Militarised and aggressive and sadistic.

So the aggressive ones are based on the new plastics, but with a few modifications. Added armour plates, shields, spears, knives, and, as soon as i can actually source some, the Reaver Jetbike pilot/Wych heads with the blank faceplate, with a few mods. Get some sensual-yet-violent aesthetics going on.

Then the other bit of fun, an actually different form of Daemon! I've seen a few people mod the latest, rogue-trader style Bloodletter, but none to my taste, really, so i'm doing my own thing there. Standard bletter bodies, added tails, swapped-out arms, random outcroppings of spines, and the face/horns replaced with a faceplate to get that Featureless look again, the tongue protruding from under it. Keep that nice, phallic Alien-head.

Done a few of both of the above, but they're unfinished, need GS to smooth out the bletters and heads for the daemonettes, but still, here!

I'll try not to leave the thread for another half a year before i post again!

Haha, love the dread, fantastic base too. Daemons are looking fun as well. The faceplates look great.

I hope to see some really interesting paint jobs on these guys
