Tru dat. But even a chaos player could find an interest in a SM chaplain. Think dark apostle...

Yeah GW states that my copy has been 'shipped'. I'm hoping it arrives on the saturday but it is not officially being dispatched till friday so might have to wait till monday. I found GW has always delivered incredibly quickly and I'm hoping this is no exception. The GW site is still allowing orders to be placed for the LE copy so reports that they are sold out may be a little misplaced.

As for the DA iconography I may look at defacing/abusing a lot of it on a couple of the better models (Chaplain & Libby probably) and using them as fallen to further bolster the Chaos contingent I get.

Note that all the sold out reports are coming from users in the States, which, in fact, HAS sold out and is currently pre-selling the standard edition.

Thanks for posting this. I've been DYING to see the sprues themselves. Nice to see that the CSM are made of several bits, so that converting these will be easier (arm and head swaps, etc.).

This is good news for me, since it means I can use the 18-24 Chosen I'll have to make the core of my (Power-Armored) infantry for a CSM army.

That chaplain is basically push fit. I just checked out the video. They have just improved on push fit.

The push-fits that GW is showing on their website look to me to be very similar in design to the ones from Island of Blood. This makes me very happy, as those are super quick to assemble, and they are very nice-looking minis.

The pieces are intricately cut, but unlike the rest of the models he doesn't have pegs, so you have to glue him.

Agreed. IoB gave me a high degree of confidence that GW wouldn't drop the ball on the new 6th Ed. set, and they didn't disappoint.. The character models from IoB in particular are rather impressive.

What surprised me was the high quality of the DESIGN of the Chaos stuff, pretty much across the board. It has been taken in a great direction, and fleshed out to be more than vanilla marines+spikes & (more) skullz. Or maybe, as other posters have pointed out, taken BACK in a more old-school direction, in a good way. I'm thinking of the pic below, in particular:

Some awesome baroque, Chaos-y goodness from way back in the day, that more recent CSM had lost. resembles the Bolter-toting new Chosen model, n'est ce pas?

If you watch the Making of the Helbrute video, they actually mention going back and referencing the old RT and 2nd Blanche art when making the Chaos from the set.

Shame they didn't actually elaborate on what elements they took from there. Still, the parts breakdown makes me happy - the arm looks really easy to reverse and I have two hellbrutes coming from different places, so hopefully something interesting will come from it, and the layered way the head is constructed makes headswaps ridiculously simple.

Okay, I just checked out the 360 of the Hellbrute on GW's site and it is one of the better models they've done in quite some time. From the way the sprue is cut, it looks like you can do a head swap with almost zero difficulty if you really want to. Interesting that they painted it up red for Khorn yet it has sculpted horns and eyes that scream Tzeench.

Received the limited ed. today via fed ex, had ordered it on Saturday from the GW site and received shipping confirmation number on Monday. Here is a couple pics of the sprues I took with my phone. Overall the quality of the models is fantastic. Rulebook is also nice and full color. This is the first purchase I've made from GW since the AOBR box set and glad I was able to jump on the LE as I play Dark Angels.

I had a feeling that’d be it – 2 sprues with 9 Cultists, 1 SB/PF Terminator, 1 Bolter Chosen, 4 standard Marines and a bike, and then two sprues for all the unique stuff, including the heavy weapons for the Cultists.

Very efficient design. Great design actually. Very impressed.

I'm from the future. The future of space

This set makes me a bit sad in that it's another clear example of how GW could fill their sprues up with miniatures like these and offer great value for the money but they don't unless it's a starter set.

The sprue layouts are so efficient. Imagine if every sprue they made was like these in terms of figures per square inch. While building miniatures from multiple parts is fun, I think I'd rather have these great looking sculpts and get more of them even if there are some repeat poses.

Ah well. There's always eBay.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

The newer plastic boxsets are cok full of things with little if any space left, rightly covering all options to complete that unit. I prefer that though whether the dual purpose nature of allot of new kits represents value/good utility remains to be seen.

It worked for the new Leman Russ kit, I was less keen on the VC Blacknight kit.

It makes me yearn for a re-cut SM Commander sprue. Imagine that with their new efficient tech. Imagine how great that'd be?

It also makes me lament sprues that are baren despite this new tech (yes new Daemonettes and Daemonette Cav - I'm looking right at you).
