Remember the rumour that FW won't do Hobgoblin Wolf riders because GW will soon release plastic wolves? And when people were disappointed when the new O&G army book wasn't accompanied by new wolf riders? Now we know that FW was talking about htese Fenris Wolves.

What a great month for SW and Nids... Good job GW! The wolves look great, and even the Twolves look pretty good even if the idea of them still strikes me as... deficient.

Nice!

I never thought I'd hold this opinion, because as you say, the concept of T-Wolf Cavalry is just silly, but yeah, the T-Wolf Cav models are really good. Wolfy McWolfwolf is still a dumb model, what with the idiotic claws or the dopey expression on the 'wolf's' face... but these plastic ones are really good. Normally GW has great concepts that are marred by poor executions. This time it is the complete opposite; a poor concept, but executed in perhaps the best way it could have been.

Well the new TWC hit the mark for me and blow the others available out of the water. Plus you get all the bits to convert with the GH's pack and round storm shields whoo hoo. I hated that one in the GH pack.

Well done GW!

LOL H.B.M.C go drink a cup of water to ease that lump in your throat.

From memory you have never been a TWC fan and it must have been hard to say they actually look good

Hard?

Not at all. I'm glad they don't look like crap. They could have all looked like Canis Wolfyhead, but they don't. They're far more subdued and it looks like someone made the best of a bad idea.

Well, I'm glad they scrapped the Canis wolf. Wasn't really feeling the idea of Thunderwolf cavalry, but I might give these a go. If anything, they look like they'll at least have some good bits. The Fenrisian wolves look great.

I'm thrilled about the named Space Wolves (and other specials) finally getting released in Finecast. Been waiting for a resin Lukas especially. You guys think Blackmane will get a new cast, or just a resin version of the (very) old metal model?

I admit that the TWC don't look that bad but I don't care for the way the riders are just hanging on. At least Canis had reins, saddle and stirrups...these don't appear to from what I've been able to make out (if wrong, the comment is recended).

Yeah, yeah you can model it yourself but IMHO the lack of this equipment makes it a tad lamer.

Edit: I think I see a billet strap on one of the wolfies but can't be sure.

The new 'nid looks great.

Despite loving Space Wolves, the wolf riders just aren't my cup of tea.

They are sculpted well enough I guess, but the unit concept is just a silly idea and I'm not a fan...

Am I the only one that thinks some of those prices are nothing short of insane and the models in reality are way below the standard that GW have been producing recently. Model wise, these look like a big step back.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

The new models look great! I really like the fenrisian wolves, which could have turned out really stupid and borged-up, it's nice to see that they are simply highly dynamic and cool wolf sculpts. (the cyberwolf is a seperate model)

I agree that they are far nicer looking that dire wolves or chaos hounds. It's about time GW finally did a wolf sculpt the right way.

The release of conversion packs for boneswords and lash whips as well as a pair of much-needed big beastie tyranids is very welcome.

They should have done all this ages ago, before about 20 other different companies made their "not thunderwolves", though. Pretty much everyone who wanted them, already bought them third-party, because the in-game rules are really good.

This is the best month of releases they've had in a long time IMO, fixing what's already out there before moving on to new stuff.

I really like the wolves - they should pack them with square bases too, for the various fantasy wolf-needs.

If I were a VC/WoC player I would much prefer these nice sculpts even lacking their chaos-y and zombieness.

I love the wolves, but those prices... I'd have trouble paying those prices, and that's the US ones. Double it for us AU people... well congrats GW, you've successfully stopped me from abandoning my decision to not buy from you. Thanks. Now I can spend my money on other things.
Damn it, I saw these models and got excited... then the price... now i'm depressed. :(

cowmonaut wrote:Man I wish GW actually advertised their stuff a little bit. Finding this out a week ago would have had me purchasing things on release day instead of in 2-3 months.

While advertising would be nice, I'd settle for GW taking a cue from PP's rulebooks and simply include as part of a model's profile what size base it should be on.

I just picked up the new white dwarf and the new models look really good IMHO. The wolves are just awesome, the twc are cool (the storm shields on them rock!) and Arjac rockfist looks good. I also really like that they have a model for bjorn the fell-handed again, he looks good (although I have seen better better conversions) though it is a bit of a bummer that it's finecast even though the price seems reasonable at €39 (well it's reasonable for finecast)

I'm not usually the 'meh' guy, but 'meh'. I'll convert a lord out of the TWC pack. Too bad the lord isnt separate from that TW though. Thats a cool mount.
Arjac is okay. Standard is nice but way spendy and CW I'm unsure about.

Still can't wait for those TWC though. Poor fangir...

How can you not like the Cyberwolf?

It's a wolf--with robot paws and a targeter!
Strap a cannon on that bad boy and you've got something beautiful.

Jokes aside, the standard bearer is fairly "meh"...which is surprising for a Diaz sculpt.
I like that the Wolf Lord apparently includes a smashed Thousand Sons torso for his base--but the model isn't as good as the cavalry proper.
Arjac just has something "off" about him. I think it's the angle of the shot, but the pose just doesn't look right from this shot.

Arjac looks like a lumberjack, i like it.

The cyberwolf looks stupid, looks like something an ork would create. Maybe it's the pose, dunno.

Looks like i'm gonna spend a lot of coin just to grab Arjac and the banner guys bare heads :-) overall though they're all quite nice models, the Nids I really am impressed with and finally released, interesting that they used the bio titan as inspiration, not the direction i assumed they would go with, but I'm glad they did.

Now who wants the bodies after i pilfer the heads off those models?

My only disappointment is that they didn't use the Standard bearer release to roll out the plastic single-pose figures for 40K. Lame.

How awesome - new Thousand Sons coming and in the way cooler 2nd edition design apparently. Or if they don't, one can use that bit for it. Awesome!

There's better heads in the SW pack... Why spend all that money for just a little head?
