I didn't get much, though. 1 codex, 1 box of warriors, 1 raider, 1 box of incubi, and 1 archon. And I'll try to get another box of warriors and another raider at the local store on release day (if they have them I guess...), and then wait until I actually get a list written up before I figure out what else I need to get. Still, even though I didn't spend $300-400+ right off the bat like I would have liked, this is the first time I've pre-ordered anything from GW, and the first time in a couple years I've bought anything direct from their website, so hopefully they still get the message.

I hope the next wave comes out soon, I want to see what other kits they're doing...or are the pre-orders for Urien etc. considered the next "wave" and we won't be seeing any more for another year?

Not yet, sadly...I won't be using them until new models come out, I hate the old miniature range that much.

Which means I'll probably lose a lot of games, lol...I've seen a lot of lists with haemonculi in them so far.

Their waves are strange....They seem to leave out things that really should come out, like Thunderwolves, Tervigons, Stormraven etc...and then with the Deamons, they decide to bring new stuff out 2 years? later (maybe they wanted to because of 8th ed fantasy...) this second lot isn't considers a wave i don't think, they just like to stagger releases I thought that Grey Knigts would be out Jan, and DE 1.5 in march, but since it seems more likely Grey Knights in feb, since its skaven in Jan, DE might not get anything until april onwards....

Convert a Haem from a warrior - zombie-like head etc and some claw arms or something.

Wow, do I really see only three different sculpts for the five model Mandrake box? Hopefully it is just because they didn't have them all painted up yet on picture day.

Otherwise that would suck GW, and it's not what we are used to. Don't go Privateer's route.

And I'm not really liking the looks of the Hellions as much as I thought at all. They looked a lot better on first glance in the codex. The bare feet, and then the heads are just awful. The other head options on the sprue better be better, or interchangable with some of the other kits.

Man I cant wait. I read the codex several times this weekend. Not sure yet if they are OP until I play against them. I torn between jumping on the band wagon or waiting for the next army (rumored to be imperial). Though some of the sculpts look a little weird where the heads connect to the bodies but Im sure they can be shaved down or something.

I see the webway portal template is available in limited quantities.

Seeing as how it's all being released on the same day why would anyone pre-order until now?

It's interesting that GW itself calls this "the second wave". Wonder if that's in-line with rumormongers' "second wave" or timeline.

Not everything is released on the same day.

Hellions, Mandrakes and Urien are released on the 20th, the rest on the 6th.

A bit weird though that the Ravager is in the second advance order batch, but it says release is with the first batch on the 6th.

Yeah...very weak imo. I mean, why would I spend $10 for what is basically half a sphere? Let's see: Craft store Styrofoam ball covered in plaster then painted to look like this for like...$2 total. Or even better use an old Blast template. Paint either to your liking.

Gwar that's kind of what I was getting at - that why would you not wait until now to order incase you want to add things to the order. Then again postage is free but it might help the spending.

Additionally I've quickly come up with a list of 'konvershun' ideas for the other stuff that's not out :

Archon - new mini / old mini/ dark elves

Succubus – Hesperax / Old Hesperax

Grotesques – warhammer ogres, trolls

Wracks – convert from warriors w/ zombie and fantasy chaos bitz

Scourges - Warriors w/ wings – wings from gargoyles, blood angel sanguine guard, or other wing sources.

Warp Beast Pack – Beast masters-> Wyches/Hellions, with whips, chains or proddy sticks.

Kymeria – chaos hounds, lotr Wargs (more streamline than the hounds fitting their shadow nature),

Clawed fiends - chaos spawn, ogretypes, someone mentioned the thing in the woods from mordheim (expensive tho!) Hounds of khorne.

Razorwings – mount 2 gargoyles on a 40 or 50mm base and use claw hands, warhammer undead bat swarms, use Greenstuff and 2x blades to make a ‘spiky bladewing bat’ and mount w/ wire on bases.

Bomber/Fighter – an eldar grav tank w/ turret removed , spikified, with some raider bits (prow underneath?) or reaver jetbike fins and bits like the helmet head for the pilot. Use heavy weapons from warrior or raider sprue. Mines can be represented by funky beads. (magnetise for removal after use) Missiles from round pipe w/spikes.

Since my other 3 troops are going to be drug users my Wracks are going to be captured human gladiators that have survived this long and are all hopped up on combat enhancers. The "Haemonculus" is going to be a Wyche Overseer and the Acolyte guy will be a trusted human pet with a whip to keep them in line. Fast, easy, and it'll fit the theme of the rest of my stuff.

No, our "first wave" comprises 6 plastic kits, 2 metal boxes, 3 metal blisters and a special item, which is the November release.
Our 1.5 and second release is coming next year. Calling the releases of one month, featured in one White Dwarf, waves 1,2 &3 is ridiculous.

GW website explicitely states that mandrakes are only 3 different sculpts, boxed 2/2/1 as seen in the pic.

@Phototoxin: More alternatives:
Grotesques: IoB rat ogres, maybe with head swap (e.g. closed Reaver jetbiker helmets).
Wracks: Ghouls
Haemunculi beasts: Rackham Confrontation Dirz beasts (old or new).

I would think that WHFB ghouls would be the go-to option for converting wracks.

Im really dissipointed about the Hellion models , bare feet , crappy heads , im just glad they can have warrior heads and the price is great for 15£ , The Ravagers turrets look like the Halo 3 shade turrets and it is good that you get some crew members aswell . The Mandrake kit is ... ok. With no options and little individualty im dissipointed.

So what is wrong with bare feet? its not like they are going to get off their boards.

I really don't like the 3 sculpts for 5 models Mandrake set.
This is a step back for GW.
A five man box should at least have interchangeable bits if the main parts are identical.
They managed to make 5 incubi look different even with limited sculpts.

Not thrilled with the +50% markup for Raider to Ravager either.

Nah. Throughout the 65 pages of this thread, various related topics have been dicussed. The "waves" of release has been one of them. Personally, I don't care when DE get a second, third or any other wave. I'd just like to see other armies get similar treatment, similar to what Daemons got, almost 2 years later.

Hellions are pretty boss, IMO. Priced like I expected, too. I don't know that I'll use them very often, but more likely, I'll use them for Beastmasters (which I believe come with skyboards...?).
