INCOMING DARK ELDAR!

Today at UK Games Day we announced the re-launch of the Dark Eldar and unveiled a wicked host of new Dark Eldar miniatures. Jes Goodwin, lead Dark Eldar designer, was there to answer questions about his latest creations and show off the cover art from the new Codex. As newsletter subscribers we felt that you should be the first to hear the news and catch a glimpse of Jes and his team's stunning work. Make sure you check out the 'What's New Today' section on games-workshop.com every day next week, as we'll be showing more of the Dark Eldar, including some of Jes' concept sketches and early design work. The new Dark Eldar will be available to advance order from Tuesday 5th October. Brace yourself, gaming in the 41st Millennium is about to become a lot more frightening.

There's a GW newsletter email today with those pics in. I'm not that fussed about these DE, I don't like the bones on the wyches but I'm pleased they now have a decent contrast to the Craftworld Eldar.

I'm liking that Jetbike very much - it has the bones of the Eldar prototype that we saw 3 (4?) years ago. I look forward to the next Eldar Codex release, when presumably, we'll see the CWE version.

Model-wise, I also like the Warrior and Incubi - very nice sculpts, tho the heads are pretty uniformly a bit too plain for my tastes.

The Archon and Wyches don't do anything for me, and the Raider simply does not impress.

Also, it looks like this stuff will be transportable without destroying itself.

Lelith looks lithe. If the plastic wytches look half as good...

And it looks like the Riders indeed do have hanger-on crew, which is all kinds of cool, but will mean I won't be able to model even a single one without tilting in on the flying base for maximum scenic impact.

The Warrior, Mandrake, Incubi and bike all look very good, though I don't actually see the reason for the gold paint job on the first model's head. Kind of detracts from an otherwise very nice sculpt.

The raider looks much improved, more like the Jabba's Sail Barge that was often talked about but the original figures failed on. The sail doesn't look quite right, it either needs to be made bigger or removed.

Well well well.... I never thought I´d see the day when I could honestly say I like DE models.
But these I like!!

The raider does have a bit of a "Jabba Barge" feel to it, but that could be negated by getting rid of the sail, or enhanced by throwing on some more sails, and scantily clad slave girls...

Jetbikes look absolutely delicious! I Need some.

Lelith is officially the best female model GW ever did.

Also, the chick with the headbag on her with funky claws - is that a Wych or a mandrake?

Hope they keep their tagline ... they wouldn't be the same without the immortal words "Pray they don't take you alive"

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Not so keen on the transports (which IMO look pretty stupid) or the jetbikes (which look very unbalanced). However, the sword guys look good, and I am "meh" on the wytches.

Might make fun conversions into other things (especially daemonettes and perhaps even certain Eldar units).

Wow! Those really look like Dark Eldar. They clearly have a similar style to the Eldar range, but but still a distinct feel.

What they have done is maintained certain familiarity with the previous range, which they didn't have to do in fairness. That bound them to a certain extent to an ugly old range.

And they still make them totally beautiful. Skillz indeed!

FINALLY!

Raiders look like bigger than the old ones, I might buy only one for my Archon and stick with the old ones for my units. Building and painting five of this vehicles might take a lot of time.

I'm in love with all the other stuff. I'll probably buy one of each unit or mini to share the battlefield with my oldies.

Are you sure that the barefoot Wych is Laelith? I love the mini and I'm buying it for sure, but I think that one could spect a wider range of weaponry in that mini. Also I'm delighted that female models don't look like having breast implants, and still look great.

They dont look too evil , but must say the design is aesthetically pleasing and the quality is also nice.

My favorite so far are the wyches , really dynamic poses for plastics , and the raiders too ( need more sails ! )

They look fantastic. Goodwin did an absolutely fantastic job sculpting these models, he's managed to turn the black sheep of GW into what is likely going to be one of the best looking out of all the armies so far.

Ouze on GW: "I'd like to be like, hey baby, you're a freak but you just got too much crazy going on, and I don't hook up with bunny boilers. But then Necrons are going to come out, and I'm going to be like damn girl, and then next thing you know, it's angry sex time again.

It's complicated."

Well, the so far only disappointment for me is that Lelith looks sooooo much better than the plastic female wytches in her skimpy yet throughly breast covering outfit, I'll have to sculpt some new torsos just to make them match. But then again, I'd do it anyway so whatever.
