Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

It has leg bastions! Isnt this a Warmonger rather than a Warlord?

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Doesn't that titan know that the 'waif' look is out? If he wants to make the cover of Maxim he'd better bulk up man!

Seriously though that rocks. I haven't watched the vid yet so this may be answered there but how awkward is it? In other words, how heavy is it, how easy is it to move during the turn, etc?

I love the overall look, but I have one beef and thats the Vulcan Mega-Bolter. The weapon housing is just to big for the barrels.

Other then that, it's an awesome peice of work. If I didn't think that the thing was broken as hell (rules wise) I'd consider eventually commissioning one.

Excellent work. I could never do a project like this without some significant help.

Was this done as a comission piece or just to see if you could do it?

Few critiques-

The weapons look a bit lean. Maybe bulk them up next time with thicker rod
The crew should consist of atleast 3 members right? A Tech-priest in there might help as well.
As stated, the weapon housings look huge compared to the guns.
As far as the pose goes, I'd like to see the legs as wide as the shoulders for stand and shoot or walking forward more like a robot. As it is, the pose reminds me of a dainty Eldar Titan which I feel this should be the complete opposite of.
I like the platforms around the legs. I really enjoy the idea of the troops fighting off assaulters and such.

That said, your choice to incorporate it into your future pieces. I'd enjoy a game against this.

wouldnt the size of it (in scale) be so big it would affect the planet's rotation and grivity field?

let alone if it was droped onto the planet from space apart from throwing up enough dust to cause a nuclear winter or knock it outta orbit of the local start and shoot off into the deep black

lmfao to much stargate for one guy

Hey, Jim.

Please, tell Shawn I said this thing looks really good.
Very impressive.

Can we get some stats on it? Such as:

How long was the assembly time?
How many CoD kit are involved?
What about other pieces that aren't GW based?
What would it cost to commission something like this?

Like I said. very nice work.

As has been said, I'd prefer to see a wider stance. I'd have liked to see the hips/pelvis and the upper legs beefed up a bit, too. The idea is that they can walk around inside one of these monstrosities and the best you could do in this one is an elevator from the calf to the torso. <G>

Well done!

Hmmm

I dont think its that good, considering what you guys have at your disposal in terms of parts, time and talent ,i think you could have done a better job.
I admit i am no titan building expert and shouldnt just rubbish peoples efforts without an explanation.

So i personally feel that when something is scratch built ,the whole point should be that what your building is as close to what ever it is your copying as posible and that parts used from other kits dont just look stuck on (the cites of death items for example). If you intend to use any parts from other kits or models they should not influence the size or scale of the model your scratch building as this will lead to what your building looking out of scale or worse out of proportion.
The weapons seem out of proportion and the vulcan bolter seems to have been made in two parts by two people in different parts of the world ,one of them was in europe building the barrels using metric measurements and the armour shourd seems to have been built in USA using inches , the legs are far too thin to support the torso and look like pieces of plastic water pipe rather than a vital part of a titans super structure .

Titans head, i consider that the "eyes" would be windows in the cockpit (as they are in other titan) so i wonder why they have been stuck on the outside ? do the winows on your house or car sit proud ?
I know my post may be very critical ,but with the release of appocalypse, every man and his dog seem to be building super heavy this or titan that ,which is great and i salute them for doing so and love reading and looking at the photos people post online,But this means that no longer do i need to think automatically "Great effort" just because some crazy person has lost his wife and kids while working night and day to build a titan in his loft.
On the positive side, its complete(how many unfinished titans are sitting on benches right now?) ,it has weapon options which is great, its paint job is good (would love to have seem more colour though) And i like the surfaces you have included so that troops can stand on it i think thats a great touch.

@shas'o - No is the answer to your questions, simply No

Shawn here. This is generally in answer to constructive criticism on the posts here: THANK YOU! The project was amazingly complicated, more than any of us thought it would be and I definitely have some good ideas on how to do it better a second time (and now I have even more good ideas). Now, to answer E.

Assembly time was between 40 and 80 man hours.
We used (IIRC) two $90 Cities of Death kits (which would be six of the smaller ones-- maybe not every piece)
Most of the other pieces are from hardware and home constructions stores. That was the largest expense with regards to materials.
This client asked that I not post the cost, but it's enough to piss off the typical wife. If you have a serious inquiry, just email me.

Optimum Time is a term we use at the studio. It's how long it reasonably takes a professional to complete a task. Usually, an artist gets to optimum time after the fifth try. Something that takes an hour the first try usually gets down to about thirty minutes. A real pro who's been at it for two years can pare it down to about twenty minutes and still do a better job. For custom work, there often isn't a fifth try (eg., I doubt we'll do five of these titans) so that costs more. If we had an order for 5000 Warlord Titans then the cost would be significantly less.

Oh, and I also did a demonstration of the Titan's awesome power! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SXgs2bjSxo

And that's what I call a "ramble"!
