Army composition:

Qg

Greater Daemons
Herald (2 for slot)

Elite

Flamers
Flesh hounds (w/special character)
Fiends of Slaanesh
Beast of nurgle

troop

Daemonettes (most powerfull choice)
Bloodletters
Plaguebeares
Pink Horrors (w/special charcter)
furies
nurglings

Light support

Bloodcrushers
Seekers of Slaanesh
Sreamers

Heavy supports

Soulgrinder (modified Defiler)
Daemon Prince (very customizable choice)

There are 3 special Greater Daemons ( one for Nurgle, one For Tzeentch and one Undivided) and 4 Special Herald ( one for God)

Troop abilities:
Daemonettes: fleet and rending
Bloodletters: PW and FC
Plaguebeares: FNP, Posioned Weapons, Slow and Purposeful
Horrors: Shooting one

General rule: All Daemons have Invulnerable save, can be placed in deep strike and have immunities versus Istant death
All codex entries (yes, even the Soulgrinder) are daemons.

From this thread on Warseer:

http://warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121779

There is a lot of answered questions in the thread. I might just be able to to sift them out

The troop choice ar very cheap (not as an ork but cheap)

Bloodthirster is very strong, best stat in the book, on assault fase he can Istant Kill a space marine character in close combat.

Horror shoot a S3 ap3 bolt and have access to one bolt of tzeentch for troop choice

Daemon Prince Stat are lower then the CSM one, is cheaper, but you can buy upgrade to became as the QG choice. Can be more dangeruos in HtH then the CSM (expecialy the nurgle one) or if marked Tzeentch be a very good mobile fire base

This is the Great Unclean One, only it has T6 I2 and slow and purposeful.

DP fly and can wound anything at 2+

they (demons) can be placed all in deep strike, and than enter in play at 6" from an icon and assault. every core choice and some QG/HS and juggernout have Icon.

Bloodeletters T4 and no 3+ save

you can have Heralds of the combination of the god you like. No undivided heralds. Ony one undivided greater demon

no nurgle or tzeentch cavalry, the first have Daemon Beast and the second Screamers (that are considered jetbike)

icon bearers are an upgarde for units

chariot option change the stat of the Herald (like +1 T, +2 W + 3A and so on...) and they loose the Indipendent character status

Beasts of Nurgle are like very toxic, tough but slow spawn... (FNP and poisoned attack)

Gifts:

noxious touch: wound 2+ in HtH

boon of mutation: see CSM psichic power, only is a ranged weapon

breath of chaos: Spry weapon

unholy might: +1 S

soporific musk: -1att one enemy in HtH

Lord of change is very powerfull:

have a sort of force weapon, all the tzeentch gift and shooting power, he can shoot 3 times at 3 different target

Hmmm sounds pretty fun! I felt a slight stirring of chaos deep inside... better go flagellate myself for a bit, and burn an offering to the Emperor...

Yeah. This is pretty much all for naught unless it's a tournament legal list that can be allied with CSMs.

If it is, as rumoured, a separate Codex that cannot be used in tourments and cannot be allied, then what's the point other than to release fancy new plastic daemons (and ugly Daemonettes).

It's good to see daemons can now believe in themselves enough to exist, great to see they fixed that whole self esteem issue.

Gee, you mean...it's a Codex full of Daemons ready to show the Tyranids what MC really means and the troops are useless and skimmers own the list despite the planned 5th edition changes?

Oh wait, that's what I said to GW a month ago. Yay!

I hope it is tournament legal, and compatible with Chaos. No plans for it, but maybe if everyone on the internet shouts at once GW will make it so?

For reasons unknown, playtesting both Codices together is asking too much of GW atm. :(

I'll believe it when I see it.

The guy who posted it on Warseer just started THIS MONTH, has only 25 posts as of this writing, and hit posts are FILLED with typos.

Who knows.
It could be ALL TRUE.

Fact is, though, it holds no water with me due to the whole credibility issue.

I really hope this only the first playtest, and is still malleable. My initial feeling is meh, and I am actually looking forward to this codex (then my demon army hiding under the guise of nid rules can come to this one). It just seems...light.

But it could be really good with lots of fluff and good units. one can hope.

Crazy thing about the new Daemon Codex is I was told by a "little birdie" that some of the new stuff in the Codex will out do the Greater Daemon Characters in the ForgeWorld Apocalypse book. Take that as you will and after seeing the Khorne GD in action this last weekend, that's just plain scary.

As my interest shifts to Fantasy I find it very weird to see all these familiar units doing weird 40k things now ...

I think a codex coming out of this list would be pretty interesting, and I look forward to seeing what power gamers do with the army (besides kneejerk dismissal we've seen so far). Been thinking more about the plastic bloodletters and how cool they are, and combined with juggers, über-DPs and mega-thirsters and Khorne might have something to do in 40k again. Though really I see horrors/flamers & demonettes being used a bunch. Deep strike + fleet + assault for the girls or deep strike + AP3 shots for horrors/flamers ...

So looking forward to getting the book, and maybe getting my Khorne demons back on the table.

I really hope that the rules for Daemons can be used in conjunction with a Chaos army. Atm I don't have any Daemons and really don't want to pick any up till I can get some definite rules for the individual models.

As it is does the CSM codex actually stop you from using Nurglings as Lesser Daemons?(And thus probably save some money on individual model cost)

I am not knee jerking here. I'm just hoping the final list has more options-more units available. To me a demon codex would have the most potential options of any codex, and i would like to see that put into practice. Right now I'm not seeing much different then what was available in Chaos codex V 3.5 which is annoying (aka annoyed they split one codex into two).

The guy who posted this on Warseer went on to say that this dex is NOT able to be allied with Codex: Chaos Space Marines.

So to cut to the chase: no, you aren't getting your rending/power weapon demons back in your CSM armies.

Oh well no Daemons for me then. Theres always Apocalypse though

As the Stealers are about the be hit with a mega nerf bat. I think I will at least play a counts as demon army with my nids and see how it plays. The deamonets at least will be priced with the rending nerf built in.

What did you expect? The reason for splitting the codex into two was not to provide additional content, but to accommodate the release of pla$tic daemons. This is just another phase in GW's masterplan to piss in all our cornflakes.

Well yeah, but expand it and I'm happy.

Any rumors of ranged weaponry at this point? I'm seeing strictly short ranged powers.

That's a pretty good question, since my first thing in looking at this is "Ok, it's got assault covered, where's the long range anti-tank fire?".

If they get that, I see it as just a better way *potentially* to run a Nid style list.

For me the deal breaker will be if it is not tournament legal. I have a great fun armored company list that is only legal at one local tournament per year, it gathers dust...
