Now that Appocolypse has been out everyone wants a titan, or two. The problem is, Forgeworld titans are EXPENSIVE, and take forever due to backlog. Armorcast titans are good, but hard to find these days.
I know that there are several templates floating around the internet to make a Warhound. However, I thought I'd come up with a way to make Warhounds more quickly, easier, and without a stack of paper for your printer. My goal is to be able to start this project, and finish it in under two days (not including painting) while keeping all materials under $25. Time will begin once I have all the necessary bits and pieces.
I hope others might follow my lead. Let's make Warhounds as cliche' as marines.

Now that I have all that explained, who is interested?

best of luck dude, I followed the old way with lackofs templates, took about a week working a couple of hours a night so I suppose it could have been done in 2 days if I didnt have to go to work.

Now I've done one I reckon I could knock out another in a day if I used a glue gun instead of pva

Looking forward to this. I've just recently started thinking about building my own warhound so it'll be interesting to see how you do it.

Toys man, toys.

I won't claim my efforts are going to win golden demon anytime soon but they're fast and they work.

Take a cheap toy robot, lop off the head. Remount the head in the upper chest. Lop off forearms, mount weapons on elbows.

I'm wondering how this would look with Wraithlords.

And Optimus Prime.

Well, I ran into a little trouble. My near perfect plan has crashed and burned. It all hinged on me finding a canopy from an RC airplain to use for the carapace. Unforturnately, all of them I found were WAY too big, so I decided that I would simply make it out of plasticard. Here are the ups and downs.

Cons:
1. It is now NOT a no brainer project. You will have to have some skill.
2. It is no longer quite so easy.
3. It is still fast, just not super-duper fast.
4. Now that the carapace is angular (although the same general "dome" shape) Using PVC pipe for the shins doesn't fit in.

Positive stuff:
1. I think it looks better this way.
2. It just became MUCH cheaper. I think I can say I will use less than $15 in material.
3. It is now more durable.
4. I can now combine the best parts of my favorite titans and just call it a new pattern.

I think I will make shoulders that have off the Carapace like in these Reaver titans: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/QUATERMASTERS_STORE_EPIC_40_000_TITANS_24.html

Hey, if you make enough of them, then your skill at it
makes it become easy.

But yeah, what's easy for you...

Looked like a toy to me.

Didn't hasbro make a toy of the timberwolf way back when, when there was a battletech cartoon?

Okay, not that this model would have been easy or cheap to make, but does anyone else remember this Warhound from the Canadian Games Day 2001?

I remember there being some WIP pics of this floating around the web at the time - has anyone seen them lately?

Was made by Barpharanges way back on old Dakka, and I think that the thread's been lost to the ages. He had a website too, I'll try to find it.

I seem to recall that it made it into white dwarf too. No idea on the issue though.

Ah, that's right - Barph! For some reason I kept thinking it was Clouseau. I'm pretty sure I remember Barph saying that the carapace was from a R/C airplane or helicopter and that the barrel tips on the plasma arm are GW paint bottles...can't remember much about the rest, though.

Also, through a little threadromancy, I found this - which he apparently made for Toronto GD 2004:

I've never been to Canadian Games Day, but I do remember seeing this Warhound in an issue of White Dwarf and thinking 'Wow! That is amazing.' I then proceeded to stare at it for several minutes. hahaha

Also, I think I remember seeing WIP pics similar to this Titan on Dakka...not too long ago actually. I don't think that it was the same Titan, though. Just a similar one.
