So, by the drawing...

Armament: Nothing. Or is the 'gunner' Scout firing a Storm Bolter?

Transport: What? Maybe 5 Scouts?

5 scouts is what was rumored. I am surprised at the weapons tho.
But it will keep the cost reasonable.

Looks to me like that is still a heavy bolter on the left hand side, it just isn't drawn to scale.

Maybe it will be possible to purchase a squadron of two to transport 10 scouts.

Well, I like it but I don't understand it.

Scouts infiltrate. They need a transport?

Nothing like havin' your hard pipe-hittin' scouts doing a little drive-by action. Gonna have to pimp that ride.

24" move, folks. That could be very useful for tracking down dug-in heavy weapon squads that you can't get close to fast enough otherwise.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I love it. It may be a bit out there, but it's a very cool idea.

After moving 24" and firing no weapons and not being able to disembark, what will the Scouts mounted in the transport then do?

Still not seeing the point of this thing, especially as has been noted, Scouts infiltrate and infiltrate is that much better in 5th.

Yes! Finally some Little Birds for the Thunderhawk Down scenario we've been wanting to do for years... and some transports for my Inquisitorial Storm Troopers from our own homebrew Codex.

With WS and BS 3, they can pump out 10 shots, 5 hits, 3 wounds 1.5 failed armored saves on those pesky Heavy Weapons teams!

I thought max move for skimmers was now 18" sans Star Engines.

I guess GW really doesn't have anything else to put into plastic for the space marines.

I'm pretty sure the fast movement is 18" and that looks like a storm bolter. You can probably split a scout squad into two combat squads and allow one to infiltrate while the other half enjoys the "awesome" ride in their pimpin' AV10 flying target.

it'd be pretty cool if it could infiltrate too. But they'll probably make it cost 100 points.

Actually only fast vehicles move 18 inches while fast skimmers move may move 24 inches.

Well, as our friends at Warseer are wont to say, I'll guess we'll just have to use TACTICS to figure it all out.

I'm curious as to whether or not Scouts will have the combat squads rule, or will have to stay together in a group. And as for the usefulness of this versus Infiltrate. Remember that one third of the time your infiltrators will come in on the wrong side of the table. With the speeder transport they will always go where you want them to, and will go quickly. Plus, if it is a heavy bolter then it can provide additional fire support when there. Either way it also provides a method to evac those same scouts, something you don't get with infiltrate.

Scout Drive Bys?

I like the idea. Not sure how it will play out though.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

I hope the model is slightly better (and bigger) than the picture.
When I heard the rumours about this I had in mind something that was more Black Hawk than Little Bird!

Given that we've seen so many of the new Marine releases, do we know if this one will eventually be made/has been made?

I ask because, out of everything, I'd get this before I got any of the new stuff. It's such a cool idea.

From a new warseer post, and it matches up with the models we've seen and the bigger rumors:

"So here we go. The transport Land Speeder is in the new codex but it will not be released with it. A time frame of "within about 6 months of the codex" was given. Unfortunately no pictures of it were shown but I can confirm it is for transporting a unit of 5 scouts ONLY (no marines allowed)." - Bauhaus, warseer

He also mentioned that they were told that Jes Goodwin finished the new DE Raider about 9 months ago.

This came from a GW Presentation Bauhaus attended.

Are scouts going to be Str4 T4 in the new codex? If so, and assuming this thing is cheap, it might be a fun little ghetto falcon. Zip out 24", maybe live, maybe get shot down (drawing fire from your other vehicles), then next turn pop out your CCW/bolt pistol scouts and attack that heavy weapon squad or something. Without entanglement it should be possible at least, if not ideal.

Alternately, if you give your scouts bolters and a heavy bolter, they can hang back and shoot from cover, then embark and zip over to an objective last turn.

I am sure neither idea is optimal, but it might be a fun possibility. Particularly if you are playing on a 6'x10' table, like I hope to be soon

I assume you can give at least the veteran melta bombs, and likely everybody else kraks. Guessing it's open topped, so that's 12" + 2" + 6" = 20" vehicle bombing run (against rear armor). There are worse ways to kill tanks ...

I'm wondering if the Scout speeder will include some sort of "fast deployment" special rule....

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

*sigh*

So, like Orks, Marines are getting a 'Second Wave' thing. I knew the good times of GW releasing everything for a Codex when it came out couldn't last.
