Ok so i got my new drop pod last week and started it this weekend.

Ive seen other shots on here about the build so i wont bore you wit them.

The build was tricky and the instructions were poor as they are only CAD drawings. I fear lids my struggle with it!

Right on to painting, this will be a big task and take many hours as there are a lot of sides to do.

This had had about 5 hours so far and i have a long way to go.

The snot green need to be finished and at least another two coats the hazard marking need doing all round but i can't do this in one go as it drives me mad!

Then its details, as its for my sallies there will be lots of flames to do!!

Here are some pics i will update as i do more C&C welcome

Looks very nice. Yeah, hazard stripes do weird things to the mind...

Hmm, some of the shapes of this thing make me want to pick one up for conversion work.....

Yeah the stripes on all 5 doors is making my head hurt!

It looks very nice...

Is it going to get small iconography or will it be identifiable by colour and flames alone??

as an aside it is custom to view and not comment I think. Apart from the massive amount of posts a lot of peaople don't respond if it does not ad to the conversation. No comments or few comments to me means people like it and can't suggest any changes (which I can't always believe seeing how I paint... )

Im not sure, that applies to the whole army, im not a huge fan of the salamaders symbol so i might just leave it off and have lots of flames

Nice work on it, mate!

I was speaking to a member of staff in GW today and he said that there was an error with the assembly instructions, with one piece being depicted 180 degrees away from how it needs to be for assembly. Sound right?

He added that assembly was fairly straightforward once this was taken into account. He also demonstrated the art of rapid deployment by smacking it fairly briskly on its base and getting the doors to fall open. Not sure I'd go with that in the long term!

That's Dakka for you these days!! VERY SAD! We really need a culture change to the commenting discussing or the modeling side will dry up. I hope Yak's on the case somehow and realising the slide. Warseer's modeling blogs forums are light years ahead in quantity and quality these days.

Very nice start you have. Do you plan on making many more? Do you have pics of your army somewhere?

I Agree Migula, back in 2003/4 on old dakka when i did my Guard army we would get 40+ replies to a post with some great feed back.

Ive always used it as motivation to push me on and complete projects

For pics of this army and my other stuff (old dakka people my recognise some of it)

Hey, you finished the striping! Very nice job man, really like the look you´ve achieved.

The flames are shaping up nicely, still need more highlighting I see.

Will you be doing weathering? I´d like to see more "been blasted from a spaceship, through atmosfere and crash landed" looking pods.

Not a big fan of the "Hi, our drop pods were brought in by trailer, and polished before the battle" look...

Great job, I am still very impressed with GW's casts for the drop pods they look just fantastic.

Just an opinion but I think the flames could be a bit more dynamic, don't get me wrong they look good but they just don't seem to pop out like one would think.

Still you deffinately get

Really nice weathering, wish I could paint like that.
Not a fan of the flames though to be honest.

Very striking colors, I love the green meshed with the black/yellow industrial striping which meshes perfectly with the black/yellow/red of the flames.

I think you do yourself a disservice by only painting this one. The army would look fantastic with a few more IMO.

Great job!

Really looks excellent. I like all the attention to fine detail. Really makes it look sharp. You should follow through with your plan, and complete all three.
