yeah,
So I'm updating my nurgle force bit by bit...
I've pretty much finnished updating my dreads... blog here
I can't bring myself to commit time to paint the terminators... blog here
So I'm Moving on to the Tanks
The plans simple:

2 Preditors:- these will be given magnetic weapons so they can fullfill differnt battlefield roles. and paint touch up.
2 LandRaiders:- FW chaos track-treads and paint touch up.
2 Vindicators: these are still on sprue... so i guess they needs making with some chaos love bits and paint.

Panic...

These two photos are from my army profile... before any work is done...
[Thumb - LandfillsRescueParty012.JPG]
starting point... the preditors want weapon options and LR2 hates his eagle tread marks

Landraider 1... says goodbye to those imperial tracks...

yeah,
I Started work on the FW LandRaider tracks upgrade...

this Kit is hard to rate...

I have a few Gripes:
1) they scimp on the ammount of treads they give you, you gotta use the pastic big imperial track section on the bottom... ok you can't see that during a game, but that's not the point? when someone picks up the tank they'll see the mix chaos and imperial treads, this is a touch'y feel'y hobby... also I like to put tank upside down when destroyed... I can't really do that now... photo below...

2) The Chaos track are weirdly narrower that the Imperial treads... this makes installing them more difficult... Photo below...

3) they don't have notches on the tread backs to line up with the plastic pegs on the body... this just seems unprofessional

4) the ammount of resin blobs obscurring the teeth parts makes cleaning up the product a nightmare... and ruins the detail... photos below

But once it's all done, I think it looks good... really good..
but this experiance could have been 10 times easier...
the quality of the bits is horrible. you gotta work hard to make this work.

and I'm still gonna hate looking at the bottom... the big section should have been included... kinda false advertising???...

Marks outta (10).................. (6)

I also gave them magnatised Havoc Launchers... Now should I ever want to tie up more points in the LRs I can!!!
I'm starting to love the extra dakka you get from having Havoc Launchers on your tanks...

PaniC...

yeah,
More modeling that I got finnished with today, the magnatising of preditor parts..
I used a preditor turret weapon sprue and a pair of lascannons from a razor back to add the extra guns needed.
Both Preditors have magnatised sponsons.
One preditor has magnatised gun barrels while the other switches the whole turret.
I also magnatised a set of optional havoc launchers... more dakka...

Some GS work to make the metal preditor plates join better with the model...

I think i'll hold off on painting till i get a paint spray gun, I'll get more done and quicker that way...

i have to say i really like the rough coat. im wondering if you could use sand and pva to make patches extra rough to give it a more real feel. what i mean is to make areas that would be rougher, rougher. i think then you will get more bang for your buck. although the rough coat looks good it is 'uniform' (from the look in these pics anyway!) so a heavier patch here and there would break this up nicely.
but as ever, your work is looking sweet

many thanks

Nice work Panic, always a fan of a nice salvage project. I think I would rate the chaos tracks 5/10 myself, the amount of cleaning and the misfit on the model were a big bad mark for me. I also had to really resculpt the front corner where they meet, they really misalligned for me, more than yours did.

Way to be with the rough coat, drybrush should catch it nicely.

yeah,
it's been a while since i posted on this blog (I've dug it up from page 16......) my bad.

I've jumped back on this.
It felt good to do some painting today and if I can keep at it I could finnish these tanks by the weekend.

First off the Vindicators, these were finnished a few weeks ago, but i never got around to posting a update... I'm happy with them.

Vindicator1

Vindicator2

I had a few weeks break, but today I cleared a space and picked up the paints and got to work on the preditors.
I have pretty much painted the chassis. tomorrow I'll to pick out a few details and get the guns painted.

Preditor chassis

and next to the vindicators... although the the paint scheme is a bit messy, they still seem to look good together.

I happy that this is moving along again... now all i gotta do is paint the 15 or so magnatised bitz/guns and a pair of LandRaiders...
and after that maybe I'll find the courage to go back and finnish the nurgle terminators I started back in spring...

Panic...

yeah,
So happy new year!
I'm spending new years night at work... I can imagine my friends all getting pissed up down the pub.... awesome...
but it does mean I can paint a bit and I've managed to get the Lascannons done.

I found some shiney white plastic card at work and made a funky light reflecting photo setup... ultra bright photos to follow!

the pair of preditors

Preditor 1

Preditor 2

I'm happy with the variation between the two preditors, I used a variety of old rhino parts on the new rhino chassi to sort keep with the fluff, they have to keep usng their old bits!

I still have to pick out some of the details like the skulls.
Then do the havoc launchers, autocannons and heavy bolters and I'm done with the preditors...
What do you think?

Panic...
