Nice so far, man.

Ok, its all going well so far, I am extremely fatigued though, I haven't had more than a few hours sleep for the past two weeks (full time work, uni exams, 6 month old baby and a Golden Demon deadline!!!)

BUT I have the house to myself tonight and I have the day off tomorrow. Unfortunately though last night a relative died and the funeral is on Saturday at 1pm. Its a 3.5 hour drive from the city, and the store doesnt open until 10am.

If you do the math you will see how annoying this is. Im going to give them a call and see if I can work something out.

I obviously cant hand it in on Friday because it wont be ready. I will post some progress pics tonight.

Sounds like the last thing you need to do is this model.

It's too bad you have to rush so badly. You've done a fantastic job up until this point and I'd love to see what it would look like if you had all the time you wanted to finish it.

I still look forward to seeing the finished product though, that Harlequin Wraithlord is just a great concept!

WARNING! These pics are much bigger.

I had to stop becuase the wife is coming home and the house is a mess. But all thats left to do is finish the wraithlord, pin him in place and give everything a once over. I reckon I have three more hours work, which im hoping to do between 9am and midnight so I can sleep in preparation for the 10 hours of driving I have to do tomorrow.

In all, Im pretty happy to have this result, Its my first golden demon entry and 14 days ago I wasnt even going to enter! The next pics will probably be tomorrow after the judging. You can probably guess where the wraithlord will be standing - facing off against sicarius. Thanks to all those who encouraged me along the way. Thanks also to rage against the machine and red bull and tooheys extra dry (australian beer)

I have a lizardman regiment heading down with the Mt Gravatt (QLD) manager for judging.

You really should put more time into these sort of things.

3-4 monts and the terrain could be popping, and lets you get all those extra touches that really makes them stand out.

As you will be there see if you can get some pics and look out for a 40k entry from Victoria (I saw it last week) its an eldar model holding a decapitated daemon's head. I can't even begin to describe the awesomeness of the blending on the model.

LOL you may as well be talking about fish to a starving man!

Truly, the only reason I entered this year was as a learning experience for 2009. Ive been in this hobby on and off for 15 years and never entered a painting competition of any form until now. I have a really big and ambitious idea for 2009 but my skills with greenstuff, plasticard and some painting techniques still has a way to go. So this is kind of a confidence builder before I begin for next year. I will also try to enter more categories obviously.

I wasnt actually there today, I had to get a mate to hand it in because of the afforementioned funeral I had to go to. I dont know the result until tomorrow but my expectation is that it wasnt good enough for a prize of course. I am very pleased that I put in the hard yards and got it done to a reasonable standard though.

Tomorrow I will also replenish my depleted stocks, my brushes are exhausted and several pots of paint are on life support!!!

Sorry for not having pics or a result but i felt like a rant....

I didn't get a prize of course, but I eventually got some sleep!!!

I grilled the winners for as much information as possible about their techniques, and they were very helpful and I have been doing lots of research on sculpting etc. So getting ready for next year... cheers all....

Heres the finished wraithlord, I really had to rush it in the end, was still painting him up until 2am.

I want to do another one for next years GD, but I will surely take more time. Unless I come up with a better idea.

It's good. I like it. But it's a shame you gave yourself such a short timeframe for completion. Bit more planning next time?
