I think theyre cool. A huge tank need a huge dozerblade obviously. Also, cool thing that you made them moveable, in order to still use the assault ramp. It does look weird "folded up" however.

Still, nice work.

Funny as all get out...I was just thinking about how a dozer blade would work on a LR last night. I love the look of what you did with it. The game I played a few nights ago my LR got stuck like a turtle on a piece of terrain. The fortunate part is it lasted the whole game and was always in range of nailing something.

When a 250+ pt model gets stuck on the WRONG side of terrain...it always sucks ballz!

I wasnt going to do this to my raiders. However, a game I recently had with two of them immobilising themselves changed my mind.

....Those two decided to have 'Dozers installed, the 3rd LR decided to steer clear of terrain!

Not a big fan, to be honest.
I understand the concept of "big tank = big dozer blade," but I think they're just too big.

I mean, look at the Vindicator Dozer Blade choice (I forget the name, off hand). It totally eliminates the possibility of getting stuck in terrain... and it's smaller than what you have here. Also, the idea of it moving to allow the unit to assault out of the tank isn't really pleasing to my eyes.

I'd really hoped to see you had made two smaller d-blades per tank, one for each set of tracks, and mounted them right in front of the tracks.

"A" for effort, though.

I like the idea, in general, though perhaps they needn't be so tall. Also, a little detailing on the support arms wouldn't go amiss. I love the shape and overall style, certainly!

Vindicator is a much smaller tank as well. That blade is almost if not AS tall as the tank itself. It pretty much IS the front sillouette of the tank.

These blades arent that big in comparison to the tanks they're mounted on..

That's exactly what I was trying to avoid. I've seen those before on landraiders and always found them to be ridiculous looking. The same for 'blades that I've seen that either split or have some opening in the front in order to still use the front access hatch. None of these ideas would protect the tank from a hypothetical "tree trunk" that is going straight down the middle at the hull of the tank.

These blades have no "weak spots" in the front and are REAL dozers, thats the look I was going for.

It's cool if you dont like 'em though, I didnt post this thread/pics in fear of any critiquing. I personally think they're the coolest scratch conversion that I've ever done, and am REAL proud of them (duh, I actually posted them here! ), thats what counts I guess considering they're my models.

I like, but... they're going to be so succesful at clearing debris that eventually it would build up and be impassable. The solution? As in snow ploughs, have the blade off center to clear stuff out of the way.

Those are excellent.
I think the cow-pushed style is the way to go
especially if GW drops the point-cost for guardsmen....

One crit though, I think the push frames need reinforcement.
unless you hate your local Mechanicum union

if your feeling really saucy you could mount blade lift cylinders too

Nice work- I like the placement, shape, size and movability.

I do agree with Belphegor that the push frames need reinforcement- a bunch of hydraulics (plastic rod of 2 sizes, basically), would both make them look more burly and help explain the movability.

you need to add something to the top of the front. I dont like the look of it. Gives me the impression of fust some big slab of metal thrown on. Maybe make it like the top of the vindy blade. with window slits and what not.

I do give kudos for the lifting up and over the tank, always wonderd how to get the ramp to still function.

Never say die! Never surrender!

The size is ok but I'd liked to have seen some more thickness to this. Just throwing plastic card down doesn't make a conversion good. This plow should have some more support to it.

A good idea would be to have a regular plow with the middle swinging down so that your models can walk over it.

Good idea but I think if you took your time it would have looked better.

Not a fan. Can you even, rules-wise, put a dozer blade on a LR? I think Amen Bricks idea of the offcenter blade is, initially, a great one. I'll have to think about it.

yeah,
Chaos space marine LR can take a dozer blade 5pts.
Imperial SpaceMarine LRs (all varieties) do not have the option for a dozer blade... sorry.

Nice blades.. instead of lifting, maybe the blades could have a hatch in the middle that opens to allow the assault ramp to open...

Panic...

First sentence says I need more thickness and support...

Next sentence suggests having the middle swinging down...effectivly ruining the integrity/sturdiness of the blade.

MauleedlovesYakeface adds another confusing post.

yeah,
Cool, I forget about the grey knights!

I like them, but I agree maybe a few more details and or iconography on the actual blade face. and more pistons mech for blade lifting.

I also liked the SM apoc. LR aries that used the vindcator blade, although that replaced the transport capabilities...
I guess you could also make a really low bozer blade, using the bottom 1/4 of the vindicator blade, that the marines could jump over!?
although that would be more of a dozer skirt than blade...

I was thinking about doing a similair conversion to my black templar land raiders. But after seeing the position they have to get in to use the front assault door i have been slowly starting to wonder if there wasn't a better solution. Now i saw a possible awnser in a forgeworld model, what if you make them like the gorgon ?
