I just wanted to use this thread here to show off some of my models before I began deciding which ones needed to be sold off. I've been out of the modelling game for the last 5 years, and I decided to kick start my Ork collection again. I'll post pictures of the ones I had done a few years back, so you can see where I'm starting.
Also, if you'd like to see what I'm currently working on (an Orky Baneblade, at the moment) please take a look at my blog. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/225881.page
Starting off with my Stompa. I had been using it under the old rules as a Looted Leman Russ. I don't know what to do with it, actually, now that I've checked the new Ork Codex. Any ideas? (I'll probably try to sell.)

Love it. If you're worried about not being able to use it in the newer codex just run it as a Dred.

Ah, yes, that definitely was my inspiration, years ago.
Next, my Battle Wagon, made from a looted Land Raider. I tried my best to make the tank look as ramshackled as possible while keeping some recognizable LR lines. I also tried to break up the silhouette so it would look as Orky as possible.
I took some more pictures of the boyz and some of the other Looted Tanks, but unfortunately they didn't turn out right, so those will have to come in the following days. Thanks for posting, and don't forget to check out my WIP Project.

I just wanted to show a quick picture of the Stompa for scale. I've been thinking about fielding it as a Deffdread, but it's just too zoggin' huge! I just don't buy it, especially with the cannon on the chest.
I'll just have to use it as some sort of Stompa during apoc games.

Next up, Burna Boyz with a Mek. As you can see, the Mek has a nice little KFF. I'm not very fond of the silly looking hair in the Boyz kit, so I've reconstructed a little bit of a fire effect using those bitz. What do you think?

It's Gorkzilla's little brother! Cool.
Chrispy, I'm using the Mega-Tinboy as a Battlewagon, with the giant klaws repped using the rules for wrekkin' ball and grabbin' klaw, and a deff rolla for the feet. The transport capacity is represented by the tellyporta array on his shoulder, as seen in the picture here (sorry to derail your thread with my pic, but it was easiest to show what I am talking about)
With the base as big as it is, he's taller than a land raider (almost twice) but only about 70% of the table space is taken by the base, so I think that's fair for gameplay.
I like the boyz so far, and the KFF mek is very cool - almost looks like he has to point the dish towards the enemy like a conventional metal shield and he blocks the incoming fire that way.

Thanks! I used a dish from some Marine bitz, and I wanted it to look like he was projecting the force field in front of him. I didn't want it to look like a big bubble, more like an invisible wall.
Grimteef, I've seen your stuff on The Waaagh and I appreciate the kind words you have to say. Honestly, Gorkzilla was the inspiration for my Stompa (obviously). I hope that my work can inspire others the way you have me.
What is the reasoning behind using Spaz Marinz Backpacks? I'm just curious.
As my army is a Deathskull army, I wanted each model to have a piece looted from an Imperial army. All of them were supposed to have either backpacks, or shoulder pads from the Gaurd or the Marines. Also, it helped mark the squad, ie, the Burnaz all have backpacks on. When I post pictures of my Loota squad, it'll be most apparent.
I just took some more pictures, which I'll be posting here shortly! Please keep looking, and thanks for your kind words!

Next, here's one of my earliest models. In fact, I'm almost embarrassed to be showing this, as I can only see how horrible a piant job I've given it. Oh well. The model was made using parts from Ghazkull and a Dread. I field it as a Mega-Armored Warboss, but lately I've been using my non-Mega-Armored one instead. I think that maybe I'll re-do the model and field it as an actual Deff Dread. PS: If you want, you can click on the pictures to go to my gallery and VOTE!

Alright, next is my Looted Leman Russ. When I bought this model, it was already glued together. I didn't have a chance to beat it up very much, so unfortunately, it doesn't look very "looted." I like to think that during the Scarus Waaagh, the Orks took control of a tank factory and spit this guy out for the battle.
Once again, please vote on my gallery pages!

Here's just a quick break from my Orks to show you what I've worked on most recently. These guys may never be a part of a full army, but I really liked the way they look. If I ever finish my Orks, Crons are the way to go.

How did you get the orange effect on the tubes. Was it a non GW bit or did you dye them someway?

The tubes are a non- GW bit that I ordered from Plastruct.com. I believe that it was this 5/32" rod, but I may be off on the exact measurement. I had tried blue rods earlier, but the detail was lost on top of the blue painting. I find the red not only more striking, but brighter and bolder in material as well.

Soooo, here's basically the last of it. I finished taking all my pictures, so I'll load them all here in one go.
Starting with my Gretchin Mob. It's a unit that's 20 strong. I really didn't want to pay the cost of the metal Grot models, so I went about converting my own from Night Gobbos. I figured, what's better than a meat shield wearing lucky blue cloaks to catch the bullets with. Also, I could play around with the idea that the Grots were also herding their own brethren forwards, thus the gobbo with a pointy stick and riding a squig.

My personal favorite unit of Boyz in my army, Da Skarboyz. I built this unit 18 strong so that they could fit in a Battle Wagon with Da Boss, and roll around crumping opposing forces. It's a real shame that there aren't rules for Skarboyz in the codex any longer.
I tried to convey a larger size for these boys, and by doing that, I used the Orc ( WHF) command squad bodies, legs and arms. If you look closely, they're minutely buffer than the regular weedy boys model. To further exagerate their size, I gave them all loads of shoulder pads and looted gubbinz, from extra pistols to Space Marine helmets hanging on their waists. Finally, every Skarboy was given a mini-boss-pole, to emphasize their leadership in the Ork Army.
I'm really disappointed that this unit is no longer in the codex, but I guess I can field them as normal Ork Slugga Boyz now. What a shame.

Next we have Lootaz. Under the Chapter Approved Rules, the Lootaz could field an entire unit of Sniper Rifles. As you can see, all my Lootaz have also looted the shoulder pads and backpacks off different Space Marine Chapters. The rifles were made using lasguns and plastic tubes. Quick, easy Lootaz. I don't really know what to field them as anymore, though.
My Cheapo Tankbustaz. Part of the Ork problem used to be that the models for some of the units had to be all metal and were expensive! I used my knowledge Orky Know-How and Mek-like Ingenuity to make these cheap Tankbustaz. My favorite part is the Nob with a Rokkit Launcha.
Speaking of Tankbustaz, some of my units used Trukks to zoom around the field, getting where they needed to go. I thought the Trukk model was a bit too weedy, so I went ahead and looted some Rhinos. It kept with the theme, and I could double the models as actual Looted Rhinos, if I so chose. Too bad the Looted rules kinda suck now.
Well, that's what's remaining of my Ork army. As you can see, I'm short a couple dozen Boyz or so, but I'm planning to strip some models and rebuild up from scratch. I think my painting skills have improved in the 8 years that I've started this army. Please feel free to click on the links to the gallery and vote! Also, I'd love to hear any comment and criticisms. I hope you enjoyed taking a look at my army!

They look awesome! I love all the looting, very orky. My favorite were the lootas with the shoulder pads of various marine chapters. Very cool
When I last played before my current 'nids project (3rd edition) my brother fielded a huge ork army- but he didn't have anywhere near all the cool conversions you've got in yours! He did have one sweet battlewagon though
Also, I PM'ed you since I noticed you're from Baltimore and go to the Battle Bunker. Maybe I can see some of your work in person there sometime . On that note, I'm like 60% sure there was a guy passing around a picture of YOUR stompa there yesterday... he said he'd stumbled across it doing research for a conversion and printed it out. It's possible it wasn't yours... but if so, it had to be a cousin of it
Great work and glad you're back at it!

Personally, I think the best mods are probably the looted Land Raider, the stompa, the looted Leman Russ, and the looted Rhinos.
Those Necron guns are really cool.
