Hi Guys (and Gals if you're actually out there )

Ok, so I hate the GW assassins range.....is hate too strong a statement? actually no, it isn't, but I can't think of a stronger term to phrase my dislike!

So, I want to throw a little competition out there for anyone who feels the same way as me and would like to do something about it.

Basically, I would like to gether some design ideas for a new Assassin model. The design doesn't need to follow the rules for the GW Assassin temples directly, but it should definately be Sci-Fi. I'm not bothered if its male or female, but the if it is going to be female, then, while respecting the female form, lets not have any Bikini killers

I'll let this run until the end of May, at which point I will select the best design!

"WHATS THE PRIZE" I hear you scream!!!

The winning design will be passed on to a sculptor, and actually made into a miniature!!!! The winner will get a copy of the sculpted miniature...so one for me, and one for you! Including the postage costs to where-ever you may be in the world.

So, just post your designs here, and lets see where this crazy ride takes us. Please bear in mind that the winning design WILL be made into a miniature, so include as much information as possible.

Cheers chaps, let the games begin!

Sounds cool!

How do you want us to present the design? Draw it? Design it on the computer?

I think this sounds awesome. I'll have to get working...

Hi Guys

I'll leave the format completely up to the designers. What-ever you feel comfortable using as a medium.

The only "restrictions", if you can call them that, are the following:

1. It has to be obviously Sci Fi
2. The designs, no matter what the medium, need to be readily transferable to 3D by a sculptor.

Thats it guys....no stop the yapping, go play already

Perhaps it's too much like the current GW miniatures, but I created some possible concept art for the Assassin. Probably not nearly as good as anyone else, but here goes:

Quick clarification, to the left hand side towards the bottom a bit, would be like a jet/jump pack sort of device, for quick escapes and whatnot.

Do you want it to be reflect any certain temple? Or can we make up our own? I have a few ideas that I want to try out, and I'd like to know what you want before I draw anything down.

Guys

I don't want to restrict your creative juices by giving you a design brief thats to claustrophobic!

I'm not too concerned with the temple you chose, especially since every miniature that has been created to represent the WH40K temples is in fact, rubbish!

Anyway, enough talk, more pictures...this thread should be like a gallery by now

No limit on entries, of course not. I'm basically after as many designs as possible to get the best miniature possible made!

Good luck guys.

Delephont: Further clarifications: You mentioned that the "type" of assassin matters not. Is it your intent to have the proposed winning model stand in for any of the assassin models in a 40k game? Should the entries have a GW flavour to them, or can they be totally off the wall?

Wow, you guys have you never heard of design freedom?

Ok, here is the definative design brief, please don't make me write this again, it hurts my brain

1. The design has to be clear and concise, as a miniature will be sculpted deirectly from the design. So not rough sketches, or abstract scrawlings...if the design can not be interpreted directly into sculpted medium, its no good.

2. The miniature has to be clearly "FUTURISTIC", and has to capture the theme of an assassin.

3. The miniature does not have to represent any of the established WH40K temples, but if the designer so choses, it can.

4. There is no limit to the number of designs that are submitted by any one designer, as long as each design respects points 1. to 3.

5. The closing date is the end of may, at which time I will pick the best design, although I reserve the right to close the competition without selecting any of the designs (example: if the only submitted design is of a one eared, viking dwarf, with an axe! )

6. The designer may use any medium or design technique, so long as it adheres to points 1. to 3.

7. Finally; the prize! The winning design, will have his or her design committed to sculpt, paid for by me! The sculptor will produce two of the same sculpt, one will be for my use and the other will go to the winning designer!

(note: no casts will be made of the sculpt, for public sale or other uses without the prior agreement between myself (commissioner) and the designer (commissioned artist), who will both share the rights to the final product. The final product may vary slightly from the actual design, as the sculptor makes the final adjustment from 2D concept to 3D sculpture)

Now, lets start drawing guys! If there is a need for any further clarification of points, please pm me directly, as I would like, if possible, to keep this thread clear for designs only.

Thanks, and once again, good luck!

Here's my first design. It was for a cybernetic assassin, but never got to be used for anything. It predates the contest, but it's never been used for anything, and has been kept in storage for something like this. I have a few more of these, if you would like to see them.

That would require both the winner and Delephont to agree to production and selling the model.

@ Vladsimpaler

Your submission was fine, keep em coming.

@ Fafnir

Dude, that design is rocking, I could see that in miniature form! If you have more, just keep posting....the more the merrier!

@ H.B.M.C

Nothing is ruled out, especially if there is a large amount of interest. However, the decision to "mass produce" would have to be between the designer and myself in agreement.

Cheers

If the sculptor is using a digitizer that shouldn't be a problem and those digitizers have been around for at least 15 years..

This one's completely robotic, and similar to my previous entry, a drawing of something that never got to be used for anything, saved away for something useful.

It was originally supposed to be a mech, hence the interior description of a 'cockpit,' but otherwise, would fit an assassin perfectly.

And yes, the sword is a giant electrical plug.
