In preparation for Planet Strike, I thought I'd paint up these forgeworld turrets. What do you think? They wont win any prizes, but I'm glad they have some paint on them!!

And here's a pic of GW's barbican they have on a table in nottingham. I love it. If I was every going to build a fortress for planet strike it would have loads of these!!!

Does anyone else have any pics of their projects or planetstrike scenery? Post them up!!

That table is feckin amazing up close! I love the fact they are "Digging up" an eldar titan behind the baracades!

It see's some serious "Apoc Love" on a regular basis!

If offered the terrain above for free I would lijkely say no, it has too little use out of it - being so non generic and must be a real pain to store.

Thing is if your going to spend a £1000 on a set of terrain, its likely your either part of a club, or you have sufficient resources to have a dedicated gaming room... therefor storage becomes less of an issue!

I'd not buy one... but only cause I like my nuts where they are and the misses would see to it that they would no longer be where they are when she found out

I personally only see those in the possession of those mentally ill, or if they run clubs and have sufficient mola for it.

Where did you get your sandbags, by the way?

We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,

He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

They're old school forgeworld. Dunno if you can still get them there, they're good on the battlefield and have nice details. give it a search. There are some other really good tutorials on how to make your own sandbags too, but that takes time and effort.

I'm gonna search out my old plastic soldier sandbags and see if they can be modifyed for 40k. We need more defences!!

Yeah you can still get those sand bags, plus a whole lot more, i am setting up a table with the kreig trenches though not as mobile they give better cover, and the way i'm setting them up on the table i can use covers for the ones not in use

I found these defences on ebay last night. About 10 of the british queens pounds if I remember correctly!

They're not a bad design, very adaptable!

Like the turrets ... hey could you square them in with the sandbags and even throw in an antena or two (not on the turrent but on the base) (try using bits from an imperial vox-caster), maybe even a spotlight? just to give them a little more permanance... and help them look less like sunken tanks and more like emplacements. Setting them on a wider base (of plasticard, wood or even cardboard should provide you with a little more space to work with... heck even some standing room for a look-out).

check these piks I saw on the net.... you could make these easy. Just mount/sink your turrents into/onto a block of the pink foam board and do some brick work... and ta da !!! you've got a fortess...

Seriously, what is with people spelling it "turrent"? It's not even pronounced like that!

I'm seriously thinking of getting some DAS clay for making scenery with. Has anyone used it? is it durable for gaming? You can get it for less than £5 on ebay.

I've got some of those ziterdes trench pieces, and a bastion (a model of which did appear in an old IG codex and an old WD issue, too - for 2nd ed).

Yeah, I heard about the one theyre releasing for PS, but usually people can come up with way better stuff on their own. I'd like to see some different versions of bastions and landing pads and stuff!

I have had some of the Forgeworld stuff for a while that will serve nicely for Planetstrike defensive line/perimeters:

Here is the stuff in used in the terrain set-up for a 40k game I played recently:

Plantstrike's impending arrival has also motivated me to get a few pieces I have had laying around primed/painted as I did this morning:

I have plans to build a proper fortress or fortified Monastery for my battle sisters in the near future so i can defend it...

I would also like to build an Orky fortification...

Great looking table, CT Gamer! I wish I had the disposable income to grab up a bunch of FW terrain. It always looks spectacular when you get a full table of it.

I like the city CT gamer has set up. Personally I'm trying to build a small Imp outpost and am putting it together/buying it piece by piece. The look is a cross between Vietnam for the overall look and Iraq for the details and environment. The center piece is a comm station I converted from an earhshaker emplacement. With planetstrike I think it can be geared toward being a quickly established base built up immediately after planetfall.

I'm really hoping to convert/kit-bash one of those Dark Angel forts into a SOB themed fortification, and the Bastions look fun as well...
