Hihi, if im not mistaken there will be another price increase around June.
Do dakka member feel the effect? will you either:
a) stock up , buy your intended army list for the current price while you can
or
b) buy them in longer intervals into the price increase?

I'll be going to university in september anyway, so I probably won't have nearly as much time. Chances are that'll give me an excuse to buy them between longer intervals.

Depends entirely on whether I have a job or not. Right now, I'm just not spending money, on account of not actually having any!
Also depends what goes up in the price increase. They only do a bit at a time rather than one across the board.

Honestly, don't do it. I bought around 100 orks at once for Xmas, and I've only gotten 35 done since, been working on a tonne of different models because I just can't bring myself to finish my orks, it's just so overwhelming. Do them one unit at a time, it's much less scary.

As I said on warseer - it sadly means I stop buying Games Workshop product and look to other manufacturers for models to paint and make all shiny (curse you, Reaper for being so out of reach to me!)

Personally I buy online so I'm not too affected, if not affected at all.
Or I buy from my LGS since they have some oddball stuff like Praetorians, and other old stuff.
The one time I would have bought direct from Gee-Dubya was when I was going to Pre Order the IG codex.
Bad idea. The shipping was like $10. I'll be patient and pay $25 for the Codex instead of getting it a couple days early and paying $35.

Hmm i knew "buying online" rout would pop up.
But remember guys, 25% increase is still increased in your discount. ( basically took your previous discount away )

Realistically, I shop around for most of my stuff now. The models are reasonably expensive and I'll be honest, I'm fairly cheap.
I'm sure the price hike will affect me, mostly on the blister here and a box there purchases at the two FLGS' in my area. Since I play at both, I'm not about to stop shopping at them.
The price hike is a pretty much annual occurrence, certainly nothing new. Canadian customers got a very rare price drop on most plastics last year and that was a departure from normal practice. From what I've heard (and I'm not sure how true it is) the price changes last year were an alignment in pricing for North America. This year, it's back to business as usual.
Does it drop GW's sales overall? Maybe for a month or so. I have a hunch they'll feel more of the eBay pinch this year with the economy doing poorly and more people liquidating a variety of things. If it hurts their sales enough, GW will drop their prices. For now though, GW kits are very similar in price to a good Scotch in that they'll go for what the market will tolerate.

Woah, wait, what?
Prices are increased by 25%?!
That can't be right. That would mean that something that was 40 dollars would now be 50, or a Baneblade would be like 125.
I'm sorry but for some reason that just doesn't seem correct.

seriously, with times being what they are before any price increases, i'm saving longer and Feebaying some things as well.
thanks to H.B.M.C. i've also strated to use Maelstrom Games. great prices on top of free S/H is just too good.

Hmmm... I hope that its not true or only for certain kits. If it is however, looks like I'll have to start watching Fleebay for cheap AoBR orks (was hoping to avoid an all AoBR ork army). Also means that when i buy from a LGS I will be saving up and making fewer trips this summer. Its a real shame was hoping to finish 2 of my 3 armies, now it probably will only be one if that.

I have all the models I need for the foreseeable future - 1 1/2 unpainted 40K armies and 1 4/5 unpainted Fantasy armies - I really don't need to buy new models till 2011 at least (later if I add more Warmachine).
I'd like to start another 40K army, but I'm in no rush - so this will mean later rather than sooner.

A 25% price increase would be completely shocking. I would definitely sell my WFB and stop buying 40K. I'd say I'd still buy LOTR but at a much reduced level.
Certainly, I would halt my crazy plan to build an army for all the Evil factions except Isengard.

My way of coping with GW... I started sculpting a number of multi-part models which I'm going to pay to have cast up in resin. I'm glad my skills are decent enough to do this. If I'm going to have to pay as much as GW wants for me to get my minis I might as well have truly unique figures.

Bingo.
I can't remember the last time I bought a model from either a FLGS or an online store. Its all ebay/trading sites/etc. I have so much stuff already (going back to the metal guardians with no arms) still to assemble/paint/whatever, that I'll have plenty to keep me busy either painting or playing.
I was hot to buy some of the new daemon models. Didn't do it. Space Marines - new codex. Woohoo. Didn't buy it. Now the IG codex is coming out, with lots of toys. I likely won't buy it, and I definately won't be buying the handful of Valks I was intending to if the price goes up...
So, long and short of it is if I do buy anything, it'll be bought second hand, or it'll be far and few between.
Actually, a lot of these costs have lately pushed me to historicals, and to smaller scales (i.e. 10mm ancients, etc.). Much easier on the wallet, and a host of vendors to buy from.

Honestly , i would love to buy stuff off ebay cheap even if its 2nd hand. But, i can never find a good deal ( since everyone else is just as eager to win it right? ) that and the multiple small auctions and their s&h usually adds up to more expensive then say purchase at warstore.

If prices do indeed go up, I'll just stop buying. I have almost all the stuff I need to finish updating my guard army, and I have the new codex. I won't need anything from GW any more, other than possibly planetstrike terrain. I won't buy any more models. A raise in price would be the nail in the coffin for me and any "random fun purchase" thoughts.

Also , i realize GW's price hike is nothing new, they have been doing it constantly anyways.
But what bothers me the most is the recent economy crises, many companies have been lowering prices
to make it easier on their customers.
Yet GW raises theirs (because they can). Granted, GW is not a charity and is just another buisness right?
Sure, but is that the message they wish to send to their customers? I hope not.
