Did a 4-color camo test :
chaos black, catachan green, graveyard earth, codex grey.
Any idea why chaos black reflects light and catachan green, graveyard earth and codex grey do not?
I'm thinking to get the underside in grey. Do or don't?

Neato. Did you hand paint the black or was it sprayed on?
I would second the call to dirty up the engines, even if its just a bit of a black wash and silver highlight. Also have you considered doing some manual highlighting around the panel edges? Its a bit tedious on a camo scheme, but the result is well worthwhile.

Fine. I'll remember to have a frog on every pic then
The engines are just kept in metallic as basic layer. Will add colors if the camo scheme works.

May go there. But need to get the basic camo first done.
Any idea how to get black less shiny?

When you seal it, use a gloss finish for a protective coat followed by a matte finish to remove the shine - it works beautifully.

I've never seen a warhammer model used against real life flora to do a camo test!! You're dedication is extreme!!
It's a great scheme and seems to blend well, its always hardest to blend around the edges of the wings/body. But the underside grey/light blue would work well.
Can you post some pics up with the engines mucky-ed up and complete?

Reflective black.. - Ive found that black wash dulls everything down and takes a lot of the shine off. If you can spray on badab black it should take the shine off the black without darkening your other colours too much.
may also bring out some more of the details, and dampen that 'chromed' engine look.
this is just theory - you would really want to test it on a small, repaintable part beforehand. I wouldnt want you to ruin a great looking camo scheme.

Valk looks nice. Are you still thinking a grey for the undercarriage? I think that will work nicely or you could go with a steely blue.

I would actually recommend using the Gryphonne Sypia Wash as it gives metal a nice oily, dirty look and is perfect for engines and other machinery.

That's some sweet action right there man. I like the scheme and my recommendation for the "non glossy black" is Vallejo Model Color series black. That is the black I use and it dries very very matte.

At least im not alone with this problem, a lot of pre-painted military vehicles have it too.
Could evade it per airbrushing a first layer of matt black.

I definetly go for grey underside. Had a second look at some copters and looked well.

Valks doesn't destroy, would be the job of a "destroyer" ( imperial ground attack fighter/bomber).
Always the frog. I start thinking GW should add a codex "amphibious creatures" to 40k.

Oh great. Now this frog has rules.
But you forgot the FOC slot. Is it FA or HS ?
Should be more careful what i shoot with my camera.
OTOH i could use this in a game and distract with the frog so the valk survives....

Missing the frog? He used his "hop" special rule and evaded any pics
Crew compartment should be always painted before assembly. Doesn't matter which vehicle, if you don't paint it before, no way to get it halfway decent later. Valk got only simple fortress grey inside and colored mechanicum shrine. Added some shadows ( black or brown wash ) at the sides and some drybrushed metal at the floor.

Your camo scheme is great for avoiding attack from above but the undercarriage has to avoid attack from below.
Blue/grays are best for the look of it but if your realy wanting it to blend in to its suroundings inatural fact pink/gray fits perfectly in with thoes cloudy days.
