So, this beastie, and a twin of his, have been sittin in my ork box for a few years now. I picked them up at Toy R Us for 5$ in the clearance bin next to the unwanted Jar Jar blow up dolls.

Unlike Jar jar- these critters seemed useful!

So, you may notice some GS in the seams, sculpting out the 'toy' aspects into a model wasnt too hard.

Now I just gotta orkify it. Im thinking one of them will be pseudo primitive, with a wood framed howdah. The second will be more mechanical. Sorta like one is for the feral-ish orks (these were originally for a snake bite army) and one will be the pet of a Big Mek. Gonna try to make them each look as different as possible even though theyre off the same base model.

Im going to do the modeling first, than work up to painting. Any sculpt work will be a combo of green stuff for the rough work (my green is like 4 years old now) and my new grey stuff for any detail sculpting.

I plan on running these as Battlewagons in regular games, and maybe as squiggoths in any apoc games I get into. I just want fun models that stand out and are fun to make and opponents enjoy getting eaten by

Looks like a good project, but I can't thin k of how to actually make it orky. Perhaps a few changes would make the difference, but I lack the brain-power to figure the combo out now.

I think you could be in for a pretty big project here, or perhaps you could find the silver key of squiggoth domination that I lack .

DOWN SQUIGGOTH... AAAAIEEEEEEeeeeehh, omg my brain, OMG MYBRAIN!!!

Im going to do some sculpting on their faces, ork up the mouths a bit, add some tusky teeth & such.

Also gonna rework the horns too, get some more size on them.

I dont really like the FW squiggoths all that much, so this gives me a chance to make something that is clearly ORK, but unique.

It helps that I have huge bitz boxes to work with. Probly gonna see loads of unusual materials at work, wood bits, brass bits, plastics, and my uber scale corrugated sheet metal!

Why do people with nothing to say, say it anyway? And so often?

I loved the old feral orks PDF codex.Use to be able to take squiggoths as heavy support. All your vechiles were pulled by boars and your warboss and his nob buddies could all have cyber boars. It awesome, aaah good grief I miss the old GW site.

A bit more on topic, yeah I like the FW ones but they are very pricey.

Are you going to paint it green? It looks like a good model but the color isn't all that Orky.

Yeah, ditto! Great model/toy for a squiggoth. Wow, you get that mouth more toothy and I think this will be really something!

Just a thought. You could cut/shave that back flat. Once a platform is built it shouldn't even be noticeable and the model won't be so tall.

Can't wait to see more.

Looks cool MoM.

I think fangifying the face would be great - I think you will need to make the jaw (and perhaps mouth) bigger too - some tusks etc would go a long way to making in a Sqiggoth.

The stance is very nice to start from!

Im gonna be doing some tusks, and maybe some other minor dental work.

But I really dont like the forge world proportions where the head is the size of the body. I dont want my squiggoths looking like hippos

If my toe (I broke it today- somehow...) stops hurting I'll post the first days progress in the next few hours. I think I got alot done...

Alrighty, heres a 24 hourish update.

Squiggoth #1, is gonna be the one for my Big Mek. Its gonna have a kill kannon, and hence a smaller howdah/platform. I didnt wanna go for the outright rip off of the cyber leg, so I gave it a power horn! Complete with a saw bit that has lil engine gubbins. This is also the one that I started doing some face work on, gave him some tusks and an orky underbite. I also repositioined the head to give it a slightly different pose.

I did the rough frame work for its howdah, and that was all I got done on that one.

Squiggoth #2, is the more primative sort. Im going with a larger howdah and no KillKannon. Its going for a wood framed look, with armor plates bolted, wired riveted riveted all over in a haphazard fashion. I bashed a rokkit launcher onto it just so it didnt look defenseless By the time I get done with these- Im really gonna hate rivets....

Considering it was a free camera, that I got in non-working condition after it went for a 'journey' inside a great danes mouth, Im just happy it takes better pics than a webcam

I hope you're going to give squiggoth #2 an even larger underbite. If the size of the underbite is directly proportional to the mean-ness of the beastie, I am sure the boyz getting a free ride across the battlefield would demand the fiercer squiggoth. Also, what does a mek need the stronger one for? I assume he'd be looking out for the ones with flat backs or no spines...
Keep up the good work, should be interesting when finished......

Had a migraine that knocked me out of paint mode yesterday night, but back at the convertin tonight!

I got bored of sculpting the underbite and tusks on the first one, and wanted to do something different on the second.

So, after starin at a mega armor nob- I decided my suqiggoth was gettin an uber UGE gob of its own!

And some orknormous armored tusks. And a kannon up front.

The flat plate on its head will be where the driver goes and will be getting armor gubbins. And the legs still need some armor too.

But, Ive started callin this squiggoth 'Gobber', so I think the name will stick.

fyi- I know the WIP pics arent perfect, Im not gonna waste convertin time settin up a light booth :p
