I thought I would make a post about this. I got a bunch of OLD plasmaguns in a bitz deal a while back, so I decided to put them to use. I decided to make a MEQ killer Storm Trooper squad out of some old Ral Partha figs I had. Here are some pics of what I got so far, I'll have some more done by tomorrow morning.

These look really cool I like the robotics look and feel

I ordered 60 heads from Pig Iron today, so I am hoping these kind of blend with them well. We'll see I guess.

What PI heads did you order? Kolony ones? I'm not keen on the static pose of the top two but I'm sure you'll be bale to fix that. And I can see the plasma gun is fused to his flesh, I've done the same thing and it just looks awesome. So I demand more pics! MORE PICS, I SAY!

Unfortunately the static pose duo are set up so that it will be extremely difficult to modify the pose without damaging the model beyond my ability to repair (I suck with GS-work). I'm trying to figure something out though, I promise.

Edit: Oh, yes I ordered Kolony Militia and Kolony Militia NCO packs. (2 of the former and 1 of the latter.) I think they are the most professional looking of the line, as opposed to Kolony Rebels or the others.

More pics, as you demand!

This is the first time my Greenstuff work has looked like it might amount to something! I am stopping here for tonight (I don't sculpt so well at 1 AM), but I have the foundations set for me to work on tomorrow.

Tubing is old Gibson guitar string I had laying around. Everything else was just bending and trying to keep from destroying the model, as well as trying to sculpt a backpack. I have a pretty good foundation set, tomorrow I can come back and add pouches, flaps, buckles, etc. I'll have to fill in that gap in the mask too, but that should be relatively simple. Ok, goodnight all, C and C welcome as always!

I picked up a pack of those guys way back in 2000 or so. They're noticably bigger than GW figures (even Space Marines, IIRC). I ended up never using them as Stormtroopers as I had intended.

But I Still like the models, even though they're a bit dated.

Quality stuff. I love proxying in models, especially for IG. I think wll look ace once finished.

Pig Iron also sell sets of pouches and bags etc for making them look a bit more battle-hardened.

@ spiff - yeah they are a little off-scale, but then again marines are the same size as cadian troopers so what is the point really? I too bought these ages ago, in the late nineties I think when they were brand new. I was a FASA fan at the time because Battletech was my first miniatures game, so when I discovered that they were making a new line of miniatures for a game called VOR I was thrilled. They looked awesome so I got a whole bunch.

@tek - Thanks for the kind words! I wish I had a whole bunch of money, I could buy pig iron stuff all day.

Some progress:

Made a bedroll for one of the troopers, added a buckle and filled the gap in the mask on the other. This squad should look pretty decent once its painted. I was going to try to put pouches on the pack, but I think I'll leave it simple.

Tutorial for how I did the bed roll is at:

I like the idea of the trooper with the respirator hose, but I think its a little long. Anyone trying to wander about a battlefield wearing that would constantly be getting it snagged on things. Can you trim it a bit and lie it more closely over his shoulder?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

They're looking good! I always have problems with the guitar wire I have, too damned hard for my wire cutters :(

@Flinty: I would, but the guitar string is very rigid and does not bend easily. I know, if this guy were in my old unit my Platoon Sergeant would have busted his ass for not being low drag.

@infilTRAITOR: I'm glad you think so! I had to use a pretty heavy duty pair of snips for the guitar wire, myself. I was going to use a thicker gauge, but it was proving too difficult to work with so I had to settle for less.

Painted up the conversion model today! This is the basic scheme. I may add more highlights, but I want to keep it pretty simple and quick because I have a lot more to do.

They would look better holding a shield i think ( the pose looks as if the would have one?)

A shield? On a stormtrooper?

This is more of a soviet salute pose. See the original pose above to see that they are holding their guns up in a salute of some kind. A shield would probably be pretty ridiculous on this model. Besides, it is far too late now.

Are you saying a riot-type shield? That would be neat if I wanted to model some Arbites. I will have to store that tidbit away for future reference.

You need to get some electricians wire cutters I would use the real word for them but the nasty filter would change it.
